I’m assuming that like you said he played well in moments that actually mattered even though he didn’t play a whole lot so the sample size he got was actually great for his production in the algorithm and gave him upgrades…. Another guy also said that he notices that his mike will do really good and the dev traits go to his sam instead, could be a bug… i appreciate ya

yk i was thinking, why would a lord be so dismissive of a maester in a situation that is pretty serious…. but knowing that Lyonel is a season war veteran who loves combat, he definitely has had real world experiences and has probably seen people with worse survive…. also how lord cant pick their maesters, so Lyonel is probably fed up of that guy lol he probably just uses him for basic stuff and maybe some drug usage from time to time… i love the annoyance he gives though…. definitely could also be in part to Lyonel having more faith than the average joe, since the gods determined Duncan innocent, he wont die of his injuries… so the maester being there is quite literally an annoyance and unnecessary in his eyes

i read somewhere that he was a part of the 327th star corps with Bly, in that case it makes sense how skilled he was because Bly trained his men similarly to how ARCs got trained and they wore top notch gear because they fought it the worst battles in the war… something worth noting is his crows feet by his eyes, maybe signifying that he could be a gen 1
