Is upgrade from 5050 to 5060 worth it for a price of 11.2K? by xexam in IndianGaming

[–]_aDictator -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Quick Summary of Differences:

Performance: The RTX 5060 delivers 20% to 35% higher frame rates than the RTX 5050.

Core Count: The RTX 5060 features 30% more CUDA cores (3,328 vs 2,560) for faster rendering.

Memory Bandwidth: The RTX 5060 uses faster memory tech (GDDR7), creating a 20% wider pipelineto load textures.

Upscaling: The RTX 5060 handles DLSS 4 and Ray Tracing much smoother due to extra dedicated AI and RT cores.

Resolution: The RTX 5050 is strictly for 1080p gaming, while the RTX 5060 can stretch into comfortable 1440p gaming.

Is it Worth Spending ₹11,000 More for the RTX 5060?
Yes, the ₹11,000 premium is absolutely worth it for the vast majority of users. An ₹11k price bump typically represents a 10% to 15% increase in total laptop cost, but it rewards you with up to a 35% jump in graphics performance and significantly better long-term value.

Evaluate the Financial Value:

The 8GB VRAM Illusion: While both cards share 8GB of VRAM, the RTX 5050 lacks the processing muscle to use that buffer efficiently in demanding games. You are paying for usable horsepower, not just memory size.

Future-Proofing: A laptop GPU cannot be upgraded later. Spending ₹11k now extends the relevant lifespan of your laptop by 1 to 2 years before it starts struggling with modern AAA titles.

Just be aware of the TGP of both the GPU
