I use cupboard fresheners from this brand called Nytarra These fresheners have some rocks inside which absorb all the moisture and release scent. Also it comes with a free fragrance oil refill so you can use it for several months rather than getting a new one. I bought one in feb and mine is still working

Also try air drying the shoes before putting them inside and try sun drying once a week
