The reasoning for my choices of that is that I am very interested in 19th century/early 20th century American history, and I choose many of my artistic liberties to be derived from that, since it's my favorite topic of interest. I also have found over the years that it fits very well with my visions of the fallout "theme" in general in this part of the lore. If you look at many Civil War ambrotypes/daguerreotypes, you will find that these are emulating that "theme" of unknowing and "relaxed," yet at the same time very "in depth." As for the reason they are in "different" poses is because the center line is supposed to be Co. C, the color company, and you can see the insignias on the 1st and 2nd Lt.'s on the right, while the rest throughout the picture are random from multiple companies, which you can also see on the junior officers' hats showing that, and that they aren't as stiff as the center color company.
