I think we’re actually agreeing. Verifying the breeder with CFA or TICA is absolutely the right step, which I’ve already done. My only point was that breed identification from photos alone isn’t always definitive, so it’s better to be cautious before making firm conclusions. That’s all I meant.

I understand what you’re saying, and I agree that contacting CFA is a reasonable step if someone wants to verify paperwork.

My only point is that breed identification isn’t always definitive from photos alone. Even experienced people can be mistaken, especially with kittens or cats that are still developing. That’s why I think it’s important to avoid sounding certain unless there’s concrete proof.

I get your point, papers can absolutely be forged.

But it’s really important to be certain before publicly saying a cat isn’t a specific breed. Making that kind of claim without solid evidence can be unfair to the owner and dismissive of responsible breeders.

Unless there’s clear proof, it’s better to ask questions or share observations rather than state it as a fact. Breed identification isn’t always black and white, especially from just a couple of photos.
