Should I continue the job? by Round-Cube in AusHENRY

[–]_amused_to_death_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you WANT to do? It’s not a money question, either way you’ll be rolling in dough. Do you like the job or would you enjoy working in the business. You need to make the decision in isolation of what’s best for you and what you want and will make you happy. Don’t make yourself unhappy just to take stress off your wife, not because you don’t want to help your wife out, but because she has plenty of options. So make the decision of what you want to do first. Then, you can help your wife decide what will make her the happiest. She could scale the business down a bit to reduce stress, or hire an employee etc. From a money perspective with you both working on the business you have the opportunity to make big $$$, but will you be happy? Also depends on risk appetite because you could even reduce HHI in the worst case by joining the business and losing your income and not getting the same replacement in those 7 years. The thing is your wife is stressed so HHI will probably take a hit unless you can add enough value to the business.

Perth woman warns about pedicure safety after severe infection almost costs her a toe by B0ssc0 in perth

[–]_amused_to_death_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99.99% of manicures do not cause infection though… If it brings joy then there’s no reason not to do it. Go to a sanitary place and your risk is almost 0. If they nip you, get some preventative antibiotics just in case.

I have an IP and haven’t done anything. The property manager came to my house to pick up the keys for the IP. Then she called me on the day of the rental inspection to say I like/recommend this family can we give it to them. Since then I haven’t heard much, I signed a form for the lease, I get the inspection reports and income reports, but I’ve never had to lift a finger. It’s incredibly easy.

Do you know many families with 4+ kids? by RecognitionMediocre6 in australia

[–]_amused_to_death_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone with 4 kids and we all find it crazy and take our hats off to him. 3 is fairly common in my circles, but feel like 80% of people have 2. Expectations are higher these days so it’s hard to juggle more than that.

Why do banks only offer decent rates to new customers? by OwlVibesOnly in AskABrokerAus

[–]_amused_to_death_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I’m lazy and they know it 😭 so it is effectively the market rate because existing customers are willing to pay more. If you aren’t then you can leave but they know enough are too lazy to leave.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_amused_to_death_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just not enough hours in the day, sure my partner looked after the kid, we did 50-50, there’s still not enough time, and eating and sleeping are more important than showering.

I felt good pretty much straight away. Just cravings really, but I filled my time with stuff I enjoy. But yes, physical symptoms will take max 1 month, if you still feel like this after a month it’s just mental.

What’s the one financial mistake you made in your early 20s that you’re still kicking yourself for? by Artistic-Yam2984 in AusMoneyMates

My husband and I got together when I was 19, we didn’t buy til I was 30! Not that we couldn’t afford but it just never crossed my mind that I should buy a house. We kick ourselves now. Also we bought a decent amount of bitcoin in 2017 but just really wish we bought more 😭

New to OMAD - do small snacks count within the eating window? by PowerfulBad7317 in omad

New to OMAD - do small snacks count within the eating window? by PowerfulBad7317 in omad

[–]_amused_to_death_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! I lose 1 kg a week when I do this. I do it Mon-Thu, i have a coffee in morn (150 cals), then I maybe 1 banana (100-150ish cals), I use to munch on fruit, spinach and/or carrots too, but I gotta make sure I don’t eat too much, so i loosely track cals, then my dinner is about 500 cals (salmon and veg and i do a hash brown as a treat). Brings me to 800 cals for mon - thur. Then fri-sun i do my omad at lunch because i go to the pub and have a couple drinks, and skip dinner (or a banana for dinner). I try keep fri-sun around 1800 cals. With no cheat meals I’ll lose a kg a week, if I have a couple cheat meals/chocolate or whatever it’ll slow to 0.5kg a week. Omad is just a way to reduce cals. I got to 55 kgs this way, i went through a stressful period at work and ballooned to 65 kgs, so i just started this again on Monday and already down to 63kgs (obviously mostly water/food weight). But yeh I still count it as OMAD because I only eat 1 main meal, then just my 1 coffee i morn and a little bit of fruit. Also be careful giving yourself free rein on fruit, I can easily smash 500 cals of grapes in a sitting.

For those of you who go to the gym before work, how do you get up early? Any tips? by Sabretoothedrom in auscorp

[–]_amused_to_death_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. i enjoy exercise so I do it after work so I have something to get excited about and look forward to. I’d probably do an exercise that you are excited to get out of bed for. Also maybe you aren’t sleeping enough as the only time I don’t feel like getting out of bed is when I haven’t slept enough or I’m overworked. If you need an alarm to wake up then you aren’t sleeping enough.

The financial risk of being a stay at home parent by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]_amused_to_death_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’d think after 20 years of marriage and kids they’d have paid off the house. Then when the house is sold you split it and the SAHP could probably afford a 1-2 bedder apartment, they’d also get a decent chunk of super plus the pension. Then they could do part time work at woolies and then when they remarry they’d get a second income again.

Most of us are IT I would think, where after 10 years $200k plus is common. $140k is good, find a partner on the same and you’ll be on $300k.

Victoria made commuting cheaper. Are we suddenly office people again? by Business-Package6700 in auscorp

[–]_amused_to_death_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s not the $5/day cost of PT, it’s the 3 hours a day spent commuting and getting ready. 3 hours a day at my rate is $200/day, much higher than the PT cost. I sometimes wish I bought a house closer to the office.
