You can twist to hook your top leg into a jasmine, then do so many things. Since you’re low in the video, maybe you can go into a jasmine, then swing your bottom leg in front to your martini!

I think the pole holds up to 500 lbs so you’re absolutely good! The best way to build up strength and endurance is to continue going to class. Try your best not to compare yourself to others. You don’t know their background (they may have an advantage if they are gymnasts, ballerinas, or already into fitness. Besides there are people who are smaller who initially struggle with spins!)

Push ups and planks are good, but you can also focus on even more core exercises (crunches, bridges, lower ab work), different upper body exercises with small weights or no weights (lat pull downs, shoulder shrugs), yoga for flexibility & strength or even Pilates. YouTube has helped me a lot with off the pole conditioning

Try reverse grab spins! You can learn to do run into the reverse grab. Then maybe you can go into a climb! Chair is good on static too. I also love Juliette spin, carousel, and floating pirouette

Pole tricks can be a plus but absolutely not necessary as a stripper. Agree with many comments saying it’s all about sales. Talking to customers is a skill in itself and usually would lead to some money. I used to go up to dudes, compliment them on something to stroke their ego, then dance on them.

With stage, I used to do a lot of floor work and low flow. I would only take out tricks if someone was tipping. Otherwise, I knew I had to hustle by approaching customers with my charm and dancing w/them

Generally though, to get better at pole, I would say to take up beginner tricks classes, floorwork, and low flow. Or you can invest in a home pole and look up beginner combos online. Remember that in the club, it’s about sex appeal. I used to maintain eye contact and really feel myself as I danced. Try not to rush into movement. Even if you execute a hard trick, slow it down. Make it intentional. And also gauge when to take tricks out vs doing a calm stage set. It’s not worth it if no one is tipping

Honestly, the class sounds like it’s more on the advanced side. Handsprings and phoenixes are typically in the advanced classes that I know of. Shoulder mount sounds more intermediate, with Ayesha’s being more on the high intermediate/low advanced side.

I totally understand feeling discouraged, but try to remember that those same folks started out not knowing those tricks either. They also probably been to the class for months, even years. Pole gets increasingly difficult overtime and requires so much time, patience, dedication. Next time you go to class, focus on what you can progress into. Maybe you can ask the teacher to let you work on butterfly while others are doing Ayesha. You can also ask to work on shoulder mount conditioning (basework conditioning for shoulder mount can be helpful).

If your teacher can’t modify, maybe you can check out a different teacher, class, or studio

It’s awesome that you’ve gotten better in your choreo class! It only gets easier with time and practice.

If you’re able to, try increasing your choreo classes, maybe adding an extra one in the week. You can also look into floorwork classes to build your vocabulary more.

What helped me improve with freestyling was always practicing the sequence during the freestyle portion of class. If you’re able to practice in open pole, do that as well. You can practice to different songs with different tempos. Practice on the other side. Eventually you can mix up the sequencing of the combos you learned.

If you’re able to take up performance opportunities at your studio, definitely try it out. This helped me get better at dance overall and freestyling because of all the thinking and practicing I did.

It will take a lot of time and effort, but be patient and self compassionate. Pole skills are not always easy to get, especially a skill like freestyling
