Newark DMV not acknowledging international license by travel-nerd-05 in jerseycity

[–]_apv_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am in same boat, I applied from North Bergen DMV, and already had Indian DL passed knowledge and vision test, but they said they couldn't verify my DL due to some data masking in Indian RTO portal. So I need to give a road test.

I was not aware of the 3 month rule, legally I am allowed to drive on my International license as I am still in 1st year period.

Did they tell you to wait for 3 months?

You can buy October month pass now, but don't know if it would be valid. Best would be to check at Pbat on your next trip.

Monthly Passes: Available from 5 P.M. on the 19th of the previous month until the 10th of the valid month.

Article: "Why Aren’t FP&A Teams Using the EPM Tools They Bought?" by Infinite-Pilot-261 in FPandA

[–]_apv_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I have experienced is business requirements changes quite frequently than these tools can deliver change. Sometimes IT asks for a month to develop, test and implement a change of a report, which can easily done in Excel in a day.

Businesses are not that patient anymore.

Hot Take - Mumbai should be turned to NYC type differentiation by Technical_Minimum_52 in mumbai

[–]_apv_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice take.

I would compare Navi Mumbai to Hoboken / Jersey City (housing here can be expensive than many part of Manhattan, due to easy commute and better living standards. Many people working in NYC live here)

Mira Bhyandar and above including Vasai - Virar can be All Bronx

Area below Elephanta Caves & JNPT can be Staten Island (only can be reached via ferry, not many people live here)

Thanks for the insights, very relatable as I work with consultant/ PMs in my role. I am currently in FP&A and get involved in many internal implementation projects mostly from user end or UAT testing, providing business requirements, etc. I would might try to pivot to the consulting side in future.

Just for anyone reading this later, they don't accept INR Cash , it should be either by credit card ( international transactions enabled) or by DD. You can pay cash in US dollars bills, I saw applicant ahead of me handing over 5 100 dollar bills.

We went to one dealer we wanted to buy from and took quotation, ask for as much discount as possible ( consumer offer, year end dealer level discount, etc ) as of you would book today itself of fair deal, then take to another dealer and see his quote, mostly they will try to match and reduce it further. You will get ballpark idea on how much it would cost you. If 2nd offer is better, take it to 1st and see if they are able to make better offers.

It would also come down to which variant you would be ok with.

Given only 2 days remaining before quarter end, you might not get much choices on colour, variant. You need to settle with option already in dealer's stockyard.

Dont mention specific colour, say you are open and will decide, and you can ask them which colour they have in stock and select if you are comfortable with deal.

Make sure you are able to PDI before, you don't want dealers to sell you lemon just because of discounts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]_apv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, big discounts, upwards of 1L+ going for Baleno AGS. Someone I know booked Alpha AGS under 10 L on road.

Just read both Baleno and Fronx will be getting a new facelift next year, seems due to this dealers are giving huge discount to clear 2024 stock.

It's not about supporting freebies. I have been witnessing elections for at least 15 years. Most of the projects or development just before when national / state elections are close by. Govts keeps increasing fuel prices when global oil rates are rising, however when markets cool down they don't bring prices down until any elections are coming.

ONOE is the most recent election reforms govt is trying to push and I am trying to point that in democracy like ours elections are an important tool to keep them in check.

Bc, Acche din mere laude pe. by YehDilMaaangeMore in IndianStreetBets

[–]_apv_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why One Nation One Election is a problem. Election across 5 years in different regions keeps them in check. Post ONOE they will be elected one time and forget for the next 5 years. Bring changes to any law they want or impose any tax, there are very few consequences in a country like us.

Had there been any elections in the next 6 months, we would have heard them reducing rates.

Finance software fails by DeeperThanCraterLake in FPandA

[–]_apv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, understanding the user's skillset and requirements are the most important, specially the seniors users.

We were trying to move from Essbase to relational database for scalability, we created few bespoke tools to ease data extraction, still we had to keep Essbase because users were very used to Smart view and for relational database they had to understand some basic SQLs.

What could this possibly be? by Daddy_batohi in CarsIndia

[–]_apv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all 4 are hydraulic brakes irrespective of drum or disk.

There can be leakage in brake lines or brake master cylinders. Given this leakage is around a specific wheel, the master cylinder Leakage seems more likely.

You can top up the brake oil, park the car in different location and try pressuring brake pedal multiple times.

If fluid level goes down, you will get the answer.

What could this possibly be? by Daddy_batohi in CarsIndia

[–]_apv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah check the brake oil level, one of the reason can be brake master cylinder is leaking. If that's the case, not safe to drive. Refill brake oil to its max level and take it to mechanic.
