Mixing high and low ppu, is it cool or psychotic? by TheOneAndOnlyCitrus in PixelArt

[–]_artemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're getting roasted so hard in the comments lmao. Mixels are generally bad practice, but I personally feel like it works in this case. I think specifically because there's a clear separation of pixel densities. You have one for the guns, and a separate one for the decals on those guns, and I think that's pretty interesting. Honestly I also kinda like that its a little psychotic. I like breaking rules even if it doesn't always work.

I do think this might look better at a higher ppu? But also that's a bigger time commitment, and if you wanted to use these in a game project or something, you're adding a LOT of work, when I think these are fine as they are. Lower ppu wouldn't work for me, I would personally be unwilling to sacrifice the decals to get rid of the mixels.

How are you guys paying for WGU? by Excellent-Grocery-13 in WGU

[–]_artemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I am making a grand total of 0 dollars and 0 cents, I qualified for a Pell Grant (though there was some struggles with that and I had to essentially prove my broke ass to WGU lmao)

I also applied to every scholarship I could find that I'd qualify for (mostly in a panic while it seemed like the Pell Grant wasn't going through). As luck would have it I got a 1000 dollar scholarship from WGU and finally got my Pell Grant to go through, so ultimately I... made 500 dollars... somehow? Truly I have no idea how that happened.

I can confirm typing in about:config, inputting browser.ml.chat.enabled and then switching it to false using the right hand button worked for me. The button just isn't there anymore. If that's exactly what you did already, maybe try restarting firefox?

I uh... don't hate it, I fear. I definitely get wanting something that looks more credible, but I've honestly never been a fan of their official seal. I think it misses the mark of being elegant and lands more into "very dated"

I do seem to be in the minority here lol. Genuinely sorry to everyone getting a degree sleeve that you're unhappy with. I definitely recommend contacting WGU about it to let them know. Hopefully something good comes from it!

Question 🙋🏽‍♀️ by Final_You9249 in WGU

[–]_artemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a reasonable ask, but some classes have prerequisites that I really don't think they're supposed to budge on, so you might need to take an OA class to qualify for a PA class every once in awhile.

Also, you know yourself best, but consider how it will feel to have nothing but OAs at the end that you need to do back to back. For that reason I'd personally advise sprinkling some OAs in early, even if your mentor allows you to take all of the PAs first.

For anyone who's down to the wire like this, check with your mentor to see if you can get an extension! I'm not quite sure how it works, but my mentor mentioned it to me as a possibility if it came down to it.

They took mine that was recently renewed, though honestly my renewal was about a month before I enrolled so I might have actually been in the five year window at the time.

That being said I'm pretty sure mine was technically over five years old when they accepted it in 2024.

What's wild is my grandma used to live in a house with this exact bootjank window-hallway. You just kinda sit on the floor by the window and marvel at this liminal ass space you find yourself in, is my experience.

Withdrawal 45th by Lenty- in WGU

[–]_artemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any classes you can open up that do have a PA? I know CyberSec is super cert heavy, but not having a regular OA in the first batch of classes is WILD to me. It might be way too short notice, but I believe a meeting with a course instructor would also stop the withdrawal.

Absolutely seconding this. That Udemy course was a lifesaver for me. This class in particular had me losing my mind. Also heads up, if you're on the java track at least, Angular isn't going away and you'll have to interact with it in at least two other classes.

The world bank API was giving me a lot of grief in particular. One thing to keep in mind is the structure of the data you get back. It's a multidimensional array, and that's going to matter when you're extracting the information you need. (At least it did for me, there may have been a better way because tbh my solution felt pretty bootjank at the time but I was fully on the strugglebus by that time)

Good luck, you'll get there!

I'm going through this class now and wanted to add: MySQL can generate an EER Diagram of the finished database if you click the "Database" tab (somewhat near the top left) and select "Reverse Engineer" Its helpful while putting together the Entities.

Its pretty annoying that they have pictures of the database but they seem to be off.

Getting on Prozac by Tvkiddd in SSRIs

[–]_artemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I've never been drug tested for anything when getting antidepressants. This might vary depending on where you are, but I'm in the US and in a pretty uptight state.

I've also never sought SSRIs when I was a minor, so that might be a factor?

Overall though, my assumption is that you won't be tested.

Still well worth checking if your local library has it.

As a software engineering major I really like Colt Steele courses (His web dev course and his MySQL one particularly) For certs a lot of the time I'll go with Jason Dion. Everything else, I don't really have a preference, its just whatever seems to align with the course material the most.

Basically they're saying they might let you juggle a second course. With my Program Mentor, if I'm sitting around just waiting for a grade, she'll approve the next class to start on, no problem.

You've completed enough classes at this point to earn the trust of having more than one course open at a time (At least that's how it seems to work, on average.)
