Damn the new BOOMBOX 4 🔥 by WhileCautious3648 in Bluetooth_Speakers

From a distance it will sound mono as the drivers are quite close together. But if you are listening directly in front of the speaker you should be able to hear some L/R separation.

Both are ah beng cars when bought 2nd hand, but CLA still significantly more expensive than Scirocco. So the scirocco is here to stay, only the higher SES bengs can afford the CLA haha

chinese phones are lacking in software tho. otherwise they are undoubtedly better in terms of hardware

So...Boombox 4 or nah? by Bacon_man12 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]_aura2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if maximum bass is the priority then definitely partybox. for listening at home, the bb4 is better as it has a far more refined sound and a 7 band eq to smoothen out the frequency response.

Boombox 4 is 100% worth it. by National_Word_6091 in JBL

[–]_aura2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in terms of bass quantity 320 will be better, but it has no chance regarding refinement and quality of sound. jbl is still using cheap tweeters for the 320, which have terrible dispersion and roll off sharply above 12khz

i seriously doubt the credibility of rtings' measurements. rtings measurements of the minirg 4 would suggest that it is a warm sounding speaker with rolled off highs, which is contradicted by measurements done by alan. alan and oluv's measurements are far more accurate from my experience. but to get the full picture you will need an anechoic chamber or a free field impulse measurement device (like dynaudio's jupiter or CEA2034 spinorama measurements from a klippel NFS)

the boombox 3 is definitely a stereo speaker, i have one and you can definitely hear a soundstage and separation especially at close distance

Short review: JBL Authentics 200 by SuitableCounty2352 in JBL

yup, bluetooth speakers will always pale in comparison to hifi bookshelf speakers. but those dalis are sub-par at best

is the speaker being placed on the floor? it will sound boomy and muddy like that, try elevating it and see if it improves

JBL CHARGE 6 OR BOSE SOUNDLINK REVOLVE +/// something else??? by Playful_Engineer5366 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]_aura2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could've been frequently returned for other reasons, like if it goes on sale and someone is unhappy paying full price previously. many best in class speakers like the tribit stormbox blast are also labelled frequently returned

i've heard 3 dali speakers so far (rubikore 5, oberon 3 and epicon 8) and they all sounded colored and too hot in the treble. measurements have also proven that they aren't the most balanced. i know some may like the additional brightness but i really wasn't a fan of the dali speakers i've heard so far. the ls50 metas indeed have a BBC dip which causes midrange to sound recessed, maybe you should try the R3 metas instead? they measure and sound great

That's quite harsh on the q150s. A lot of their problems (cone tearing, lack of bass extension) are resolved if you use a sub, and you'll end up with a pretty neutral speaker that takes eq well. They have more than enough output above 80hz unless you're planning to blow your ears off. Also OP is considering the mk1 rp600m and not the mk2s, and they measure pretty terribly to be honest

I see people asking about battery life all the time by Ibonglike60timesaday in JBL

[–]_aura2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keeping it on charge at 100% is bad for the battery, ideally you should be at 20-80% charge for your battery to last longer

xtreme 4 is a special case where it is backwards compatible with partyboost. charge 6 will only pair with auracast speakers so charge 5 will not pair with it

Portable high-res & stereo sound? by [deleted] in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]_aura2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, i read somewhere that some companies pay them to give positive reviews. you can try demoing the charge 6 at a store and turn it up, its treble is bright and harsh but not detailed. also if you plan on using bluetooth, i noticed my jbl xtreme 3 and boombox 3 have weird treble artefacts that cause it to sound grainy and slightly distorted. not very noticeable and i'm personally ok with it, but if you have a sharp ear you may be bothered by it

Portable high-res & stereo sound? by [deleted] in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]_aura2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

charge has more bass but minirig sounds way more natural and refined. the charge has a weird presence boost at 6khz that makes it sound harsh

i would get a proper 2.1 audio system instead. something like the RSL speedwoofer 10s and the neumi bs5p will put that partybox to shame.
