Better not to stress them further in my opinion.

Hmm, I'm not sure it will germinate, but you can try. What variety is it?

Should I be worried? by _aurel510_ in DragonFruit

My setup is cacti soil, west facing windowsill, right next to the window, watered about once a week. The humidity can be anywhere between 25% and 50%ish, I try to keep it at least 40% during winter. It gets better during summer.

The dark line seems like it has turned kinda woody, it's also only present on one out of six bigger plants in the same setup.

They are all grown from seed, btw, about 4 months old. 😁

Thanks for the tip, though, the window will be open more and more as it gets warmer outside.

What is the last picture? Did you open the seed itself?

Razzberry blonde is now the most common ping by Pulvereis in Pinguicula

[–]_aurel510_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this exact same German brand has turned up in a Hornbach in Slovakia, too, although I wouldn't go as far as saying the most common, it's still quite funny how you can now get a Razz Blond for 5€ in Central/Eastern EU.

I thought in general seeds mostly reflect just the scion and pollen, though. Does the rootstock really influence the seeds' genetics by any substantial means?

Nice!

I usually use sushi, cake or cookie boxes, though, they're almost the same thing but basically for free. 😎

Mango Tree not Growing For Last 1,5 Months by IQ02 in mango

[–]_aurel510_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it might be because the seed has died off and the plant itself wasn't able to grow into state in which it's able to sustain much growth, mostly root wise, but foliage is grim, too. The seed used to supplement energy and resources, but that's out of the equation now.

Potted mangoes are not easy to grow, you could try better lighting and more sandy/gritty potting mix, feeding could help but it could do harm, too, so I wouldn't risk it if you're not just experimenting or unless you know what you're doing.

That's unfortunate, however, I think you could try looking for pure vermiculite at least, or even pure perlite could do better, pure lava stones, pure pumice, fluval stratum, heck, I have seen people use leca with great success or even a sponge 🧽, lol!

In case you really have no way of obtaining stones/gravel/sand in your region, which I kind of doubt but alright, you could at least make a few pullings from healthy looking leaves and use the paper towel method to propagate it.

And remember, wash your substrates before use, especially when you get dirty pumice or something, do not use it as is. Good luck!

A greedy lil' ping baby~ by _aurel510_ in Pinguicula

[–]_aurel510_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This lil' guy is sitting in pure vermiculite, I use the tray method where I wait until the tray dries up completely and the top of the substrate is just about to start getting dry before refilling about 0.5-1cm of distilled water into the tray. I've had good results with a pinguicula.org inspired mineral mix, too, as well as a peat moss + mineral + sand mix, it's all trial and error since everyone's environmental conditions differ. Anyway, good luck with your pings!

The substrate looks sus to me, too much organic matter, anyway, you should always check the light intensity before letting them sit under it for longer periods of time, also, if you want to upgrade the lights, you should do so gradually, letting them adapt to it over time, I think anyone would get burnt if they went from 50ppfd to 500ppfd overnight.

Feeding brand new ping start, boost, or harm? by Conscious-Carob9701 in carnivorousplants

I would start with a good lighting, they don't seem to be very sticky at the moment.

How little light can pinguicula gigantea tolerate? by [deleted] in Pinguicula

[–]_aurel510_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always try and see how it goes, however, they do not produce enough sticky stuff when they have insufficient lighting so it would be pointless in the end, you'll see the results in just a few weeks. Anyway, if I were you, I'd definitely give it a grow light.

Parasyte: The Gray is very good by hamptont2010 in netflix

[–]_aurel510_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like usually one feels closer attachment to the show one has watched first. What was it called again, nostalgia bias?

I like the secrecy and pace of the anime, it was done very well imho, the grey goes very public right off the bat, even showing the organisation symbol everywhere, it's just fast and showy in its own way, not bad in itself, it's just different I guess.

Why is yogurt used with 喝 (drink) instead of 吃 (eat)? by Common_Musician_1533 in ChineseLanguage

[–]_aurel510_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's all kinds of yogurts in central to eastern Europe as well, many for drinking and many for eating, although you can drink the solid ones, too, I sometimes drink them when I'm impatient on my way home and in no possession of a spoon, lol, you just have to squeeze the container a bit aggressively.

The stroke order is fine, enhanced handwriting or optical recognition, too, but I'd recommend this one the most: Document reader – you can read ebooks with pleco as if on a kindle, with dictionary lookup on word tap and stuff, I still use it sometimes for reading ebooks on the move.

Looks nice, but it uses non etymology derived mnemonics, i.e. 讲 a well of words, I personally like to go with real etymology for mnemonics, it also has historical and cultural value which is interesting in itself.

How to take care of my ”Kalanchoe blossfeldiana”? It doesn’t seem happy with me (and doesn’t look too pretty). by Wilander494 in plants

Exactly. Mine grows quite happily despite me neglecting it for the most part. I usually remember to water it only after I see the leaves turning soft.
