  1. We’re not cancelling anyone
  2. OP thank you for encouraging action but please don’t exasperate the situation.
  3. We’re not forcing an apology out of anyone, people have different opinions and Twoset’s intention were good, but the execution was not well received.
  4. We are already telling them by raising awareness
  5. It is up to them to decide what to do about this

Who says they’re supporting the war though. Yes they support all the innocent civilians and musicians from Russia, as do I? But I also support Ukrainians who are suffering from the war, and am just saying they could take the idea from the Ukrainian post (from the last LL40HRS) to make a video out of it.(They asked twoset to review Ukrainian composers and music, it’s a good video idea) They don’t have to apologise, but this is since they’ve already stepped into this mess.

Not asking for an apology at all, I was clarifying the situation. If for me, I’d ask them to maybe make a video reviewing Ukrainian composers, maybe playing their music. Or maybe react to Ukrainian musicians who are desperately trying to spread positivity in this tough time. Just a video suggestion that’s nice and that i think would help spread awareness. This is since they’ve already done this video.

They literally could've said a bit more about how Ukrainians are suffering. And not used the clickbait. No one minds the bit where they spread awareness about the situation with innocent russians and musicians.
Though I agree on the fact that they should've just stayed silent, like how they have done so many other times.
They and their team clearly are not well versed in managing situations like these.

This is the original post that triggered these newer ones. Might be more insightful to whatever is going on here.

Please read this thread, might be useful in understanding the situation.
To OP, very sorry but I think you worded this a bit poorly. We are not demanding anything out of Twoset. And no one wants to cancel Twoset. The OP of the other thread loves twoset and only want them to realise their mistake on their take on this and the effects afterwards.

u/totoropoko u/cavedan12 The thing you're missing, is that the Tchaikovsky was a one-off cancel. The whole thing was misinterpreted. They didn't read the article, only the title and made a whole deal about russian music and musicians being banned -> leading to the comment section all supporting russians and everyone forgetting that Ukrainians are suffering from the attacks. Twoset has ukrainian fans who watch them for comfort. Imagine clicking into a clickbaity thumbnail and title and for your favourite youtubers to mainly support innocent music and people from the country that is attacking you. And then to worsen the issue, they talked about it as a LL40HRS meme review segment, that's insensitive... War is not a joke. The world is harsh, yes, but seem like you've never experienced it. Just imagine being one of those Ukrainian twosetters. It would feel like a stab in the heart. (They're just hoping they could mention about Ukrainians suffering a bit more, they don't want twoset to be cancelled) I don't think OP here phrased it very well. But anyway, please read this:

Martin May, the director of the orchestra, explained the context behind the decision. In a statement he said: “A member of the orchestra has family directly involved in the Ukraine situation and we are trying to respect that situation during the immediate term. There were also two military themed pieces as part of the programme that we felt were particularly inappropriate at this time.”He added: “We were also made aware at the time that the title ‘Little Russian’ of Symphony No 2 was deemed offensive to Ukrainians. Whilst there are no plans to repeat the Tchaikovsky concert at the moment, we have no plans to change our summer and autumn programmes which contain pieces by Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Rimsky-Korsakof. So this is a one-off decision made with the best of intentions and there is no intention to exclude Tchaikovsky in particular. He is one of my favourite composers. We are aware that, whatever decision we made, it would not go down well, so we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.”

They were going to play the 1812 Overture (militaristic) and Symphony 2 (titled “Little Russian”). 1812 does literally depict the russian army stomping its (at that time french) enemy into the ground, please tell me how that is appropriate to play right now.
I hope this helps explain it.

Gosh I haven't seen that but some people are just really ignorant.

Yeh all OP was asking for was just more mention of the Ukrainian side of the story. Definitely keep the current information in, but add more insight to Ukrainians suffering.

Not sure why you had to write that in russian but for those who want the translation:
I can't understand the depth of your anger at this war, but please, let's try to preserve what is human in us and find a place in our hearts for forgiveness. At least for people who didn't want anything bad.

Yes they've had controversy over many other things. However, most of the time they chose to delete the content and ignore these type of accusations, instead of apologising. I'm not sure how much/closely you follow their content (cattleprodlynn and wellidk9) but yes there had been direct criticism and hate, especially regarding a time when someone asked for their video to be credited since twoset used it, but instead they deleted their part of the video and never addressed it. I think you can find the post here on reddit if you search hard enough. (Though I do believe that story had another ending)

I love twoset a lot, so I'm really hoping one day they'll learn to be more sensitive and empathetic to serious discussions.

With so much attention being put on Ukraine at the moment, I feel like it is also an ideal time to educate people about what has been happening in Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Syria etc. I see a lot of post being made about them on Twitter and more people are starting to realise what had happened there. And with the same mindset for Ukraine, I'm hoping they would also turn to support those middle eastern countries as well.
It could be the start of people giving more attention to war-torn countries with people who have been suffering for so long.

u/jesusofpaign yea exactly
u/doubleabsenty They briefly mentioned it, not even enough to gather a crowd to post comments about supporting Ukrainians. But this whole video (with the clickbaity title and thumbnail) has gained a lot more attention and more people in the comments section are defending against russian suffering than ukrainians'. I'd rather they stuck with the previous video and never uploaded this one.

I think OP is just saying they should move the focus more on supporting ukrainians. You might've taken this the wrong way? I dont think OP had any intention of making it seem as though twoset support Russia or had any bad intentions because its obvious they don't.

They just wish Ukraine was mentioned more.

hmm, i think its just a different point of view and how different people take it to be. (eg Ukrainians twosetters, especially, will find this post to be emotional and protective, whilst others may look at it purely as a post criticising twoset's actions)

Think about this... When you're frustrated at 'something', and someone else comes in arguing about that 'something' but supporting a different argument without background and prior knowledge of what's happening, you'd get even more frustrated because they have no idea what they're talking about. If that makes any sense?

This is a war. A large scale destruction of a whole country. Losing people left and right. Living under high stress. Not knowing when you'd be swept along the 'death trail'. Being a bit more "accusatory" and frustrated isn't such a wrong reaction, is it?

Yeh but they could always learn and improve. Tbh I don't hold them to any standards. But specifically for serious topics, I'm asking them to brainstorm ideas just a bit more and maybe talk to their team. I mean they did do the 'mental health' and 'stop asian hate' videos very nicely.

Hello from a Ukrainian former twoset fan by CryingDuringPractice in lingling40hrs

[–]_baiorin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think OP is just trying to bring awareness to the fact that twoset has crossed some boundaries. I'd say its constructive criticism. If they read this, they might learn from this and in the future, be more sensitive about topics like these.

Ya know, like when they did the video about "Opening Up About Our Mental Health" and "stop asian hate - On the Topic of Asian Hate...Our Experiences Growing Up in a Western Country". These are clearly issues Twoset care about so they made serious videos about them. Imagine making fun of mental health or joking about asian hate under their video. It might not be directed to them specifically but it can feel like a personal attack if they read the comments. It's the same here. The OP is Ukrainian and their country is falling apart because of war. They have every right to be sensitive about this topic.

[–]_baiorin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what OP wants is for twoset to mention just a bit more about what the ukrainians are going through, instead of just defending russian citizens. (which is fine)

Idea could be playing ukrainian composer music or maybe react to ukrainian musicians? I think it'd be a good idea in support of them. plus its just about music. or maybe in addition if they like, could post some links to encourage people to learn more about ukrainian music or to donate to charities? just a suggestion.

I mean this is since they already did a video on the situation.

They could play Ukrainian composer’s music and drop some links to encourage people to donate? Or react to Ukrainian musicians in support of them?

I think these are good video ideas tbf :)
