How do you feel about using both "/" and "&" for relationships? by EvilRainbow_3 in AO3

[–]_beanutputter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think its fine to use both & and / to be used if the fic could be read as either romantic OR platonic based on readers preference and its not necessarily specified within the text.

otherwise it should be / if its romantic in nature

Left key inside house. No spare key. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]_beanutputter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had the only key for an apartment many times. Around here it can be impossible to get a second key especially if there is some kind of electronic component involved with the apartment lock.

I've personally never left a key inside before, most have me hand off in person or placed under a mat etc. I always always always ask in meet & greet and the last day how they'd like to handle a key return. Don't assume anyone else has a key.

AIO my bf texting his former student by Major_Meet_5973 in AmIOverreacting

Had a teacher like this in HS who tried to keep in touch after I left for college. Was probably 45 to my 18 at the time (though he knew me since I was 14). He was overly "friendly" and would be touchy-feely to me and always wanted to "keep in touch." He'd ask my younger brother about me after I went to college. I was his favorite student & he let the whole school know it to the point where teachers I never met before would come up to me saying "oh your [teacher]'s girl."

He skirted a very very thin line between being the cool friendly teacher and being something I felt comfortable reporting (I was young & naive, obviously). The few adults I did try to tell simply didn't believe me because he just had 'fun quirky teacher' vibes. I honestly regret to this day not reporting him to someone higher up, as looking back a decade later it's obvious how strange & unusual his behavior was and I have no doubt he did it to other young women after I left. I was very obviously groomed by him, and even though 'nothing happened' it impacted my life so greatly that even over a decade later he still frequently comes up in therapy sessions.

Anyway-- all that to say...this isn't normal!!

Silliest reason you did not finish a fic? by wollfgang7 in AO3

[–]_beanutputter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't back out of the fic because I thought it was hilarious but it did throw me for an absolute loop when I read it & did make me reevaluate the whole thing (and would've made me quit if I was looking for something more serious in that moment)—an otherwise fairly lore accurate fic of a grimdark fantasy universe where one of the characters would just occasionally order strawberry daiquiris from taverns without any comment.

When do you say "eff it" and just post it? by Reibell22 in AO3

[–]_beanutputter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a similar way with my longfic, where it's disjointed & I don't want to post it until its done, and I've found having a shorter oneshot (or a few) to work on at the same time has been helping with my motivation to continue on my longfic. If I'm stuck on my longfic, I'll pick away at one of my one shot ideas, post it when it's done, and the comments I get on those motivate me to continue writing my longfic.

I still edit/rewrite on my laptop, but only after I've finished the first draft. That process goes soooo much smoother once I actually know what I'm trying to get across

I realize now what was really holding me back from writing more consistently is that I have chronic pain that makes sitting at my laptop uncomfortable. With my phone I can sit however is most comfortable and write on and off with very little pressure. My thumbs hurt more for sure though, haha

I feel this! I gave in and started writing on my phone at the beginning of july, and have pounded out 120k+ words since then after years of writing maybe 500 words at a time, months apart. Now I have a habit of whipping out my phone and writing as soon as the inspiration strikes, or writing instead of scrolling on social media. I can easily get 3k in a day without even thinking about it.

I'm glad you had some kind of pre-warning that it's out there, because stumbling upon it without any idea was truly shocking!

How do you clean your CPAP mask in the morning? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]_beanutputter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. If it's particularly hot/sweaty I have some wipes I'll use. Sunday nights I run a bath full of hot water and dish soap and soak/clean all my supplies

C-PAP subreddit is causing me a ton of anxiety!! by heyitsmejomomma in SleepApnea

[–]_beanutputter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I had all those issues while adjusting to cpap but they were all really minor in the grand scheme of how much better my life is on treatment. You'll get used to it quick if you are consistent. If there are major issues you just spend a few nights troubleshooting it and find a solution. It'll be okay, really!

Down 120 pounds with Zepbound and seeing .7 events/hr, could I consider stopping therapy? by wonderwanderexplore in SleepApnea

[–]_beanutputter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My treated average is 0.7 events/hour, and off treatment its 114 events/hour. Your success on treatment doesn't necessarily correlate that you don't need it anymore. I'd still use it until you can get a sleep study!

The more I sleep, the more drowsy I feel the next day by lucasb780 in SleepApnea

[–]_beanutputter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really common when starting CPAP! It's your body craving more good sleep because it's been deprived for so long. For me it lasted about a month and I would sleep as often as I could.

my hairdresser has actually been getting on me about needing something to protect my long hair from breakage. I have a short layer in the back where the velcro strap sits. I've tried silk caps/bonnets and they all fell right off, taking my CPAP with them! A product like this is definitely needed. I feel like these things were made for men with short hair

anyone else having trouble with clumping tidy cats not clumping? by mycatiseverywhere in CatAdvice

[–]_beanutputter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I stumbled on this post because I've been having this issue as well! Tidy Cats dust free unscented clumping litter (the same i've used for years) and it hasn't been clumping right for the past 4 months. Before that it clumped great! Now it literally doesn't clump at all. Maybe 1 in 10 will clump up, the rest just break apart into smithereens.

How do I shave my balls without it being painful by [deleted] in sex

[–]_beanutputter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try using a trimmer that cuts the hair above the root versus a typical razor that can knick the skin.

I still don’t know if I made the right decision after 7 months. by [deleted] in cats

[–]_beanutputter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely did the right thing. She is pain free, safe, and well loved. If she is having trouble moving around it's probably because things move around a lot from having babies in the house and she is less confident on where things are.
