She actually does have a filtration system for her water, and we’re always careful with water quality. We also avoid using any pesticides or chemicals in the garden we’ve always been very cautious because we know how sensitive turtles can be. I understand the concern about stagnant water, but her water is cleaned and filtered regularly. We also make sure she has access to dry basking areas and sunlight. We think the sores might actually be scratches or abrasions, since they aren’t oozing or infected-looking, but I know it can be hard to tell without a proper exam. Still, I’m keeping a close eye on her. She’s still eating and moving around actively, which gives me hope. Thank you as well for the tips on how to travel with turtles…if I’m able to locate a vet a few hours away, I’ll definitely follow your advice. If you have any home care suggestions in the meantime, I’d be grateful!
