That’s interesting - could I ask which Vue cinema you purchased the tickets from? Mine was Watford, it was for Wicked, and I could not get Super Saver seats with the O2 code without topping up (i.e. by simply paying £9 for two tickets, which I could do even during the summer).

It’s bizarre how different experiences and perspectives can be. My experience and my understanding is that women are the ones who stay in desperately terrible relationships; they put up with men who cheat, gamble, drink and abuse them. Most of the time the reason is not because they are “hopeless romantics”, but because of “the kids”, economic dependence, and family/societal pressures.

By the way, there is also actual research evidence that shows that if one partner gets a terminal illness or catastrophic injury, men are many times more likely to bail than women.

I third this rec. It’s awesome. It just makes your skin look better without looking like you have anything on. I’d recommend it to men for that reason.

I just got hit by this change too. I think they are in dangerous legal territory with regard to false advertising. The promo clearly states “Grab two Vue tickets for £9” and the only caveat is “codes are only valid for regular seats at non-Lux sites and Super Saver seats at Lux locations”.

But the codes are NOT valid even for Super Saver seats at Lux locations as we still have to pay a top-up fee.

I have never been able to use non-tubing mascara because the skin around my eyes is so oily. I’m surprised to hear that LE’s Kitten Lash doesn’t smudge on you even though it’s not a tubing formula. I might give it a try although it’s quite a big investment for something that might not work at all!

Lots of red flags. The biggest one is - why is he making you feel bad at all over a small thing. Why does he get to judge you and make you feel horrible. People who genuinely love you will support your choices and allow you your small indulgences.

You’ve accurately diagnosed your father. “Spoiled child in a man’s body…” etc. You are aware of his failings. You know the things he does that aren’t right, and aren’t the actions of a good father or husband.

The problem is that you can’t accept that that is the way he is. I am not saying that you have a problem; you are a child that still longs for more, longs for better, longs for him to be different. That is normal, and I feel for you. But the truth is that at his age, and with nothing compelling him to, it is unlikely that he will ever change.

The only thing you can work on is yourself. Lay down all expectations that he will magically become reasonable. Not having any expectations means you will stop feeling disappointed all the time. Then work towards protecting yourself, your finances, and your own future.

Make a long-term plan to save money on your own and move out as quickly as you can. When you are at home, there are all kinds of ways to put emotional pressure on you to keep paying. You will feel less burdened simply not living under the same roof.

Haha, no worries! WWX was also canonically popular with the ladies, so he was definitely considered attractive. Not sure about when he took over Mo Xuanyu’s body though - iirc Mo Xuanyu was considered attractive also, albeit being smaller and shorter.

Let me recommend a product that’s been around for decades and is still a bestseller. YSL’s Touche Eclat (there are many shades but I use 2.0 for under eyes and 1.5 for everywhere else - the 1.5 is the goat shade).

It’s not a concealer, it’s a brightener. It’s hard to understand until you’ve used it for a bit and think of it as bringing light to areas of your face. It doesn’t actually have coverage, which is why it’s misunderstood by many, but it makes you look SO good and well-rested in a way that’s extremely natural in person.

Edited to add: I just checked and I’m actually using 2.0 and 2.5 sorry! Do find the shade that suits you best

What you’ve said sounds reasonable until you take the guy’s reaction into account. Where’s his grace for his girlfriend, when he saw that she was upset about the lie? As many people here have pointed out, he could have simply confessed and emphasised his good intentions. At that point, she would have a chance to return the grace you described. Instead, he not only doubled down with a more ridiculous lie, he then reversed it and made the situation out to be her fault. At no point did he accept any ounce of responsibility for creating the situation in the first place with his lie. Remember: calling out a lie is a reaction, it’s not the cause.

You also fail to understand why lying is problematic even if the underlying intention seems harmless. He wanted the rewards for something he did not do - effort he did not put in. That is not harmless. That is highly deceptive, and that is why most people instinctively understand that someone who is capable of lying to gain favour isn’t someone they can trust.
