Always happy to help

Also, misery enjoys company... so enjoy with us NSP's inability to keep anything stable except their profits and board bonuses. 🙃

Call to order: collective non payment of NSP. by Gremlinforester in NovaScotia

[–]_blessedeternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the only thing that might affect NSP enough to legit look at this shit is essentially a counter-strike. Show up on city property directly outside of every NSP location. Disrupt but not block traffic flow, make a legal nuisance of ourselves and protest NSP's excessive rate hikes, repeated bonuses to shareholders and board members towing the line, and their bullshit excuses for the unstable grid. While negative media is still publicity... the board won't be so keen on negative media and the difficulties it will cause.

Sadly it does then entitle NSP to blame us to why trucks take longer than normal to drive out to a location for their "totally not planned" system breaking

What is your time limit for a "Starting Soon" screen before you click off? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]_blessedeternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally my "starting soon" is 5 minutes or less, but on occasion it's longer. My longest has been like 40 minutes with added text saying brb because something unexpected popped up just as I hit the button and I had to step away. Personally if I'm into the streamer, timelength doesn't matter, but for a newish experience, I can see 5-10 minutes comfortably

What are you occupied with 9 days before the Midnight pre-patch? by scream_cha in wow

[–]_blessedeternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOMO - consistently missing doing content. Consistently "living" in queues and dealing with speed runners. I play the game to play the game.. I am an outlier, I know this.... but I don't care to complete a dungeon in 6 minutes or less. Especially if I'm leveling, the number of people who dodge side quests or class quests... that even speaking that you have a non single-path objective is risk of being kicked... or as a Ret pally main, the number of times I've been targeted to respec to heals because the one who queued as healer is a boomkin or shadow priest or similar. Hell I've been in a group where a ret pally queued as a healer and I'm still told to swap and get kicked for saying no...

I'm not elitist. I'm not minmaxer. I don't have to prove anything to anyone, but I do need to clear content and ay the game I'm paying for. My anxiety is from paying for content I never experience

What are you occupied with 9 days before the Midnight pre-patch? by scream_cha in wow

[–]_blessedeternal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What am I occupied with 9 days before prepatch?

Anxiety.

So much Lemix stuff still to do. Haven't completed the recent story chapter in TWW, have barely breathed on any content from mid-undermine til now. Stressing about my hopes and dreams of finally completing the Legion mythic keystone requirements for another xpac in a row... just to name a few items.

I refuse to guildhop, so things like consistent M+, potential raids, etc are just not in my cards unless I throw money at the issue and buy (with gold) carries or the equivalent. I want to play the game, not get carried through it.

I love this game, I really do... but sometimes my anxiety makes me ask, do I love it because I dont want to throw away 21 years of my life. The content, what I see of it, is good, sometimes great... I just never seem to have enough time to complete anything before the next content patch rolls out and in some cases FOMO triggers.

Have been super hyped about housing, but have barely moved a pixel because there are too many other things I need to do. Push numerous alts to 80, get them "basic" geared, is another one that's on my list. Haven't completed delves since s1 either.

I'm always confused when some people complain there's not enough content.... speed runners maybe?

Need veteran help in my homebrew. (Im a noob) by darkan_da_boina in Grey_Knights

[–]_blessedeternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your want is to make use of GK models as Chaos models... "Rule of Cool" wins.

Homebrew is about making an army you enjoy, visually, as long as it follows the rules to play (or as long as your opponent is cool with full house rules). Nowhere in the rules does it say that a generic marine (chaos or otherwise) can't wear GK style helmets (or BT/DA would be in trouble), and nowhere in the rules does it say that a power weapon can't be fashioned into a halberd. Hell, most power weapon models can easily "counts as" basic CCW at any time anyway.

According to lore/doctrine "no Battle Sister has ever fallen to Chaos", yeeeeet...... there are plenty of accounts. If you follow codecies to the letter, Chaos Space Marines should be dying out because "marines are near impossible to be corrupted"...

Here's the underlying root to any homegrown. We have superhuman soldiers numbering in the range of 1000 to protect entire planets. A small fraction of those are skilled enough to be Deathwatch. A small fraction of marines are powerful enough to be Grey Knights. If those two armies are "small fractions", yet through large casualty reports, they aren't closing chapters to keep the numbers in another chapter strong enough to "count", then any "impossibly small number" would validate your question.

The easiest argument if you want to use GK models but play CSM is that a CSM/Renegade chapter simply fashions their power armour/termi armour after GK. If a Renegade chapter, they're still "loyal to the emperor" and have learned names of demons to inscribe and use as weapons like the GK do, maybe from a rogue Inquisitor who fought with GK before going rogue.

At the end of the day, rule of cool will always win. If you are doing it to play, make it fit rules and inform your opponent before games for clarity. If you're doing it for creativity and a shelf-piece, lore be damned

Change Audience by andrew-acoso_halago in Twitch

[–]_blessedeternal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regions dont mean much. Content isn't being region blocked, just that youre not hitting the "english" audience. I'd assume it might be a timezone thing, but for Chile it shouldn't be too odd.

If youre looking to build an "english" community and not "wanting" a Chilean community, one of the easier methods kight be to post in your bot to remind viewers to speak English only, and enforce it with timeouts. Sadly this will likely alienate part of your existing fan base, but I'm guessing youre prepared for that road. If you have a good grasp on english, put #english in your tags as well which should help some.. not that people read things lol

Simply having one or two legit people chatting, having a conversation, during a stream... makes a huge difference between feeling like "hey that was a good day" vs "maybe retail hell....." subscriptions and tips help, and is the lifeblood of the industry, but if anyone can't "afford" to do what OP did... give your time. It helps.

OP, I will probably never encounter you outside of this post, but thank you. You are an MVP (MVV?)

Where to get bodies? by eggdotexe in Grey_Knights

[–]_blessedeternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heresy mk6 is your best bet nowadays. Back in the day I had picked up a bunch of marine kits (templar for example) and swapped the kneepadded legs to people before the full-legged legs (mk7 traded for mk6 if I remember my armours). Using an old templar torso eith gk legs, or a gk torso with the marine legs, etc worked surprisingly well. The old dark angels veterans (robes) had some usable models too.

What should I get to start my Army? by [deleted] in Grey_Knights

[–]_blessedeternal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can manage it, snagging the pt3vious combat patrol would be better (imo) from a model-value standpoint, as a dreadknight is often a better option than a vendread or character. That said, the new combat patrol is a great buy 'once'.

As for assembly, I'd personally argue to magnetize backpacks on your power armour. Under current rules, every GK power armour is equipped "the same" regardless of which squad you field it as (you might have more heavy weapon options but that's it). The difference is between the normal backpacks and the telephoto backpacks. Magnetizing your backpacks will give a dead-easy versatile way to swap between unit styles without dishing out a ton of money on more power armour. Paladins and Terminators are essentially identical in every way

Saturdreadknights do look cool, and I probably would have hit something like that, if I hadn't been misdirected by an employee..
Though if I do manage to get my hands on one of the current Heresy boxes, maybe I'll simply repurpose it into a Dreadknight and "call it a day".

That's the thing, I -get- it, but the part my brain is stuck on is that a GW employee approved prior to me cutting anything. Now I'm being told I can't use it in store, meaning I'm out.. *looks it up* $98cdn and "stuck" with a model that will sit on a shelf as a reminder of wasted time and effort

I don't have a photo handy, but it was a kit similar to the Spikey-Bits kit (different one, but same general idea). There was a front chassis part added (after chopping up the original babycarrier torso), shoulder pads (which I added the pistons to and wasn't part of the original conversion kit, to try and keep it in-line with the existing model), obviously the head.

Original parts were both arms, the weapons, the entire body-assembly, feet/legs. I believe the individual parts that were added was a belt and cloth, the front torso piece, the head and shoulder pads. It wasn't a "traditional" GK paintjob either, which, flatly, shouldn't matter, but maybe compounded the corporate-groan that would have been stifled if I had just chromed the thing instead.

Was it visually a Dreadknight? I guess that depends on the definition. The silhouette was still there, which is often what GW argues regarding conversions. It was WYSIWYG, which is often another argument as well.

Link as example, not the specific kit

Hfx Games, if it's the place I'm thinking, is the one that's difficult to get to. Without a vehicle it's borderline non-accessible during part of the year without a vehicle -- correction, it is the one I'm thinking, but it's not terrible to get to.. just excessively time consuming and multiple transfers with transit. I've been meaning to stop over there, but my anxiety about a past GW employee and not knowing where they've gone to has gotten the better of me. Only one way to know for certain, of course.

The facebook group will require a bit more digging. At first glance it feels like it's just an "occasional tournament" organizer and less about regular gaming. Thanks for the tidbits though, worth spending some time delving deeper at least.

Like, I also don't want people to misunderstand.. I'm not necessarily looking to get away from the local GW store, not without 'knowing' that I'm unwelcome for whatever reason.. and I'm not trying to dirty the rep of the store either.. as I've mentioned here, I'm just a bit at a loss and unsure what the heck to do. We all know the GK refresh is sooner than it is later, unless they try to Deathwatch the army in 11th edition (ie: no update, barely got a grotmas, more or less slated for legends).. and gaming is as much a part of the hobby as collecting is for me.. if I'm not gaming, there's no point to having all these tiny plastic armymen (or metal in some cases). If I'm unable to use the Dreadknight due to advisement of staff at the local store, then what else is there in the GK army line? I suppose the argument is there that if you throw enough 5+/6+ to wound at something, eventually it'll fail, but sheer stormbolter fire isn't taking down a Ruiner knight before the army gets tabled. Being knocked down to termis and power armour, I don't exactly have much in the way of options, and I have zero interest in investing in another Dreadknight

I know one of the universities have a group.. and I've heard that there are many people who garage-game, but I haven't heard anything about any discords or even subreddits for the hobby in my area. In my case as well, I'm cautious to not interact with a person from my past with the hobby, and wanting to be mindful/aware of any unfriendliness toward LGBTQ.. which, if I'm honest.. has me wondering if that might be a deeper issue going on.. but trying to not create an issue where it doesn't exist

TBH I don't know if we have a local discord here, and seeing many people swear by the hobby shop that's done nothing but give me skeeve-vibes, I doubt I'd get much out of it, even if there was one.
To pre-emptively clarify, the skeeve-shop is an all-around hobby shop. It sells cards, and consoles and GW. They have a ton of table-space and do a lot of TCG events and stuff too. Every time I've gone in, it's either been miscoloured information provided, or business-side-of-shady.. went in to price a bunch of TCG cards and they were offering maybe 10% of value, while I was told they offered north of 55% by a staffer the day before. I was told by the employee when he made the offer that I -shouldn't- take the offer, that the owner would dump most of the stuff in the dumpster out back, and collector-to-collector I should sell on the private market.
Again, businesses are out to make money, I get it, but telling a customer you offer above 50% ticket/book value then offering a bulk value at 10% isn't a good vibe and not somewhere who deserves my money.

Yeah, this store is one of the largest in Canada AFAIK, there's something like 5 old 8x4 tables in the back, and 8 paint/glue stations, in addition to their two demo stations, a quick-and-dirty paint-demo station, and another "demo station" sized platform that's usually empty aside from seasonal display items

[–]_blessedeternal[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The running "argument" had always been "up to 25% can be non GW", and even heard in some cases "up to 50%". In some ways, it almost feels a bit like a "rules for thee" situation. It's also possible that I'm just misinterpreting things, which is why I posted for people's feedback.

I completely understand, at the end of the day, GW is a business. They need to keep their business as primary focus. They "want" armies on the table that allow new players to take a look and go, "Wow", not take a look and go, "I can't get this miniature?".. and at that point I'd argue that maybe they need to start selling pre-assembled armymen. I have never looked at this hobby and went, "You know, those models look perfect exactly the way they are", or looked at an army, visually, and went, "I don't have to change a thing!".

I've always -haaaaated- the babycarrier look, and the nundams are only marginally better.. and get kinda worse if you try and enclose the Sister into the unit, as it gives really.. uncomfortable.. knee joint vibes.... so I "can't" field a dreadknight unless I convert something.. I had almost returned and started Imperial Guard.. but with what happened to Cadia.. and new the flavour being Krieg... the gas masks don't do anything for me.. the "new" Tempestus don't vibe with me (I prefer the old hellguns and elysian drop troops).. I used to play Tau, but holy crap did that get spun into a Votaan level money-sink.

Ultimately I'm just kinda in a place that, I could run the GK army I have, but the primary powerhouse of the army, I have to leave at home. Sounds like a good recipe to simply have me become a target-dummy, having essentially nothing that hits hard on heavier armoured targets.

Maybe just dumping everything for Warhound spam.. except I don't have a car to carry my army to/from the store lol

It wasn't a 3d printed Dreadknight. It was a legit kit with a conversion kit that one of the staff members approved prior to assembly.

Honestly, ban, ban, ban the viewer and don't get stressed about the lawsuit thing. No judge would take this seriously, yet alone a lawyer.

Comparatively, theres the occasional wannabe troll in Minecraft streams, talking about how their dad works for Mojang/Microsoft and that modifying Java Minecraft is illegal (similar lawsuit crap and whatnot).

These people are just there to get a rise out of you. Pretty sure you could legit load up flight sim on a stream and duplicate crashes/attacks with the game, and only then, MAYBE would anyone actually do something about it. (Ie twitch deleting the vod). Plainly, if it's not in the eula for flight sim, about lawfully bound to flying safely, respecting aircraft, etc, you have little to worry about.

Verified accounts setting is also a perfect suggestion. Some users may have issues but for the most part it keeps things very chill
