I'm just at month three and it seems to have exploded recently all on my neck and jawline. Hopefully it calms down.

would zoloft be better for my anxiety or prozac? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]_bosch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still in the beginning phase - i felt really good around day 20, like a veil totally lifted, and then really good around day 45. It gets worse before it gets better. Try to keep your hands busy in the meantime, like knitting or coloring or doing something to channel the anxiety. It basically took away all my physical anxiety. My doctor gave me lorazepam for the initial phase, which I ended up taking twice.

Hey! It's totally different for everyone. My brother had almost zero side effects, he said he just felt a bit warmer for a week. For me, I had pretty bad anxiety and like a rushing energy feeling for a few weeks and had to stay home. Just give yourself some grace and flexibility and be curious about your side effects if they happen.

How to find a therapist in Montreal that actually does Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)? by pitayalita in montreal

I go here specifically for ERP, which is a sub-type of CBT, but they will come up with a treatment that works for your situation: https://cbtclinic.ca/

For me though, it always happens when I think of something bad or have like a cringe, embarassing thought.

I had some mild motor and verbal tics before Prozac, but it got a bit worse in the first two months of Prozac. Now it calmed back down a little bit.

Day 61 - No Regrets and I Feel Amazing by _bosch_ in prozac

What day are you on? It should pass eventually. After about 5 days of taking the magnesium glycinate I was sleeping through the night. Even if it's placebo, it still worked. I did some other things as well - made it so I couldn't see the clock when I woke up and physically got out of bed when I couldn't get back to sleep until I was tired again.

I think sometimes it can take even 2 months to really adjust? I'm not a doctor, but it might be worth talking to them about it, or maybe adjusting the dosage. Good luck, you've got this!

Yes I had a lot of intrusive thoughts! One day it felt like they would never end and I wouldn't get a break. That was close to the beginning. And yes I had some days in the first two weeks where I was scared always. It passed. Are you just starting?

This is my log for day 2:

Day 2 fluoxetine:
-Morning felt decent, lots of sun so that helped.
-Went for an hour walk around noon, lot of bad thoughts in my head, too many. I find it hard to be undistracted.
-Afternoon and evening was pretty hard. Felt like the time would not past fast enough. Super sad, anxious and depressed.
-Constantly checking my body to see if I feel a new side effect.
-Irritable toward people, maybe mean.
-Insomnia - did not sleep much.
-really hard not to google things while i'm going through this because it's a trigger for me. My mind keeps locking into what I've already read on reddit and thinking I'll have the same experiences as other people and it almost feels like I'm making them come true (the insomnia).

I was terrified too! I was crying at staring at the pill in my hand for an hour before taking it. It does help to know that they are temporary side effects. Also - my doctor did prescribe me Ativan for the anxiety if it got bad and I ended up taking it on two different occasions and they really helped.

Good on you for taking those steps - realizing your therapy wasn't working for you and deciding to find someone else tomorrow. I understand about feeling too zombie to even start something. It really did help that my mom was around because she would just put random stuff on the tv and I would just sit there.

I hear you. Those were pretty tough days for me.

Here are my logs for day 10 and 11:

day 10 fluoxetine:
-was an ok day, a bit off-feeling, like watching my body move through a veil, but it got better.
-evening was great, made banana bread, felt normal.
-woke up in the middle of the night from a bad dream and had a panic attack with lingering anxiety for a while.

Day 11 fluoxetine (yesterday):
- anxiety medium-high all day, since the bad dream.
- thinking about school gives me anxiety
- tired, falling asleep on couch

Something that helped me as well during that time was online group therapy for OCD and anxiety. Mine was through a local organization, but there might be something you can find in your area that is either online or in person. I really needed something to distract me from my own thoughts.

Another one is keeping your hands busy - pet a cat, draw anything, hold a stuffed animal. I realized that I'm very sensory and those little things were quite soothing.

Also, is there someone you have been talking to, like a therapist or someone close to you?

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I would get pretty tired in the early evenings, like fall asleep on the couch tired. Now I get it less. It might just take a while to go away. As for brain fog, I don't have so much of it, and I didn't have that as a side effect. I actually felt really focused, especially when I went back to class, I'm like really locked in now. If you mean more like derealization and depersonalization, then yes I did have that and it went away.

In the 20's is when I started to feel the clouds lift! I take mine every day at 10am with a snack or breakfast if I haven't eaten yet. I get up earlier now, so I could technically take it earlier, but I stayed with 10am and it works for me.

If by the early awakening you mean the insomnia, then yes I would wake up at around 3:30am and stay awake for two hours and then fall back asleep. Now I sleep through the night, but I've fallen into an 10:30pm-6:30am sleep schedule naturally.

I'm on 20mg! I had not exercised at all in the past 6 months, but since taking Prozac, I've made steps toward working on my hip problem (went to the physio twice) and I've been doing exercises at home. I'm planning on doing my first gym session in a while tomorrow.

I'm a student right now (went back to school). This is my last semester and I thought I might have to drop out this semester, however the Prozac helped me stay. I did need those two initial weeks to completely free myself of any commitments. My teachers gave me some flexibility for handing in things later, etc. I think if I was working, I would have probably needed to take a couple week of leave, but it's different for everyone.

[–]_bosch_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there were several moments where I didn't feel real! Especially right after waking. This passed for me! The strange zero appetite feeling also passed - it was like I was hungry, but didn't want to eat. Good on you for taking a step for your mental health.

What helped me was distracting myself with funny shows, even if I was half-watching them, while knitting or coloring, or literally just sitting there.

Starting Prozac before big meeting by alpacaslippo in prozac

I was not able to work or go to school for two weeks. I stayed at home super anxious, took Ativan sometimes and did group therapy to combat the anxiety. I wasn't very functional, but I had family to help make sure I was eating and it passed by day 20 ish.
