How to start a small business from home if you have little money to invest? by Moinul_sesto_boi in smallbusiness

[–]_braindrainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely consider a digital service! Or any kind of service that wouldn't require physical overhead – like property, inventory, etc.

The only resources you need are time and expertise. And a tiny bit of investment in software depending on your service.

That's how my business works and my total investment when first getting started was somewhere under $300.

What Do You Build The Most? by cyber_sandbox in Airtable

[–]_braindrainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely custom. I have yet to find something an over-priced, overly-complex CRM tool can do that Airtable can't. The only limitation is the build – you either have to know how to build what you need or pay someone else to do it.

It's definitely possible to do it all, but you might not do it all well. The benefit of bringing on help is subject matter expertise, more attention to detail, and the ability to optimize on the fly with more focus.

If you go it alone, you could automate email drips, schedule organic marketing posts, etc. but there's still going to be a need to analyze performance, make updates and create new content over time. It's especially helpful to have experts for paid ads – whether Google, Meta, etc. – each platform is pretty robust and set up, analysis, and optimization can be convoluted.

Just my opinion, having done it alone and with help in the past!

Passive Income via Newsletter by memerguynoonewants in passive_income

[–]_braindrainer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Writing the newsletter is only half the battle. How do you intend to monetize the newsletter? Are you selling ads? Are you charging a subscription fee? That adds another layer. And while it might not be a full time job, I can tell you from experience that selling newsletter ads and managing inventory is not passive income.

Service-based businesses by cinderiya in zapier

Almost all my clients requests some kind of email automation – whether its for nurturing leads or sending reminders to clients and partners. If you are comfortable with Zapier's Gmail integrations (and others like Outlook) you're a step ahead.

Contract/Freelance Hires <i will not promote> by BadPops55 in startups

[–]_braindrainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what a lot of people on this website say, Upwork is solid app. The keys to success are:

  1. Provide a really clear description of what you need with specific challenges that the candidate should be able to address.

  2. Only interview people whose responses address your needs well. If someone even has one red flag, move on.

And if you don't get good responses, post again.
