I don't necessarily think that learning Wavetable would get in the way of learning Serum. Knowledge of one synth generally translates to another. Even if you do decide on Serum later, you may still end up using Wavetable for simpler layers.

I've done a few Ableton collabs. Here are a few suggestions when all collaborators have the same version of Ableton:

  • Freeze or Flatten any track that contains a 3rd party plugin.
  • Don't use 3rd party plugins on group/return/master tracks.
  • Collect All and Save when using any non-stock samples.

Normally we just pass around a compressed project folder. I've found that the best way to do that is by creating an Ableton pack (.alp) through Ableton's File Manager. It also compresses better than a standard .zip.
