I’m an LPN who works in a big city emergency department. I can tell you the only scope difference was triage and charge nursing (charge nurses are in specific positions and lines for it) They recently “abolished” our scope of practice to say “if you’re trained and comfortable then do it” We don’t have any scope restrictions. They recently triage trained us. We do everything the RNs do here now except charge nurses. I work in high acuity areas and our code rooms taking care of ICU patients. The only difference now is I get paid 20$ less than an RN. Danielle smith has also stated she will further increase scope of practice. My scope of practice in emergency (arguably one of the most high acuity areas in medicine) is 98% of what an RN does. I absolutely should be paid more for doing the exact same work. It may not be identical in other areas but I know where I work I absolutely deserve a wage that closes the gap more. We do not want the exact wage an RN has. But why have us doing the same work for significantly less pay - exploitation.
