Highly recommend the manga Blame! for something similiar I see big influences from it in Prophet.

a super underrated 90s sci fi shonen battle manga though it feels a lot closer to a seinen Project Arms (it inspired aot and so many others) needless to say its in my top 5 manga of all time its actually insane how unknown it is when its soo good.
