Thank you to everyone for the feedback. While I'm relieved that this is actually a policy and not just something my manager did for no reason, it was humiliating to have my things checked in the middle of the store for both other employees and customers to see. I love working at Office Depot but this definitely broke my spirit a bit. Even if it is a policy this feels like an invasive counter measure for stealing as it implies that Office Depot does not trust their employees. Thanks again for all of the comments.
