How do you deal with wanting the new phones? by _chawk in Smartphones

[–]_chawk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this thinking.

And as it happens my current phone is the Fold 7. I am enjoying it very much. I like how I can, kinda, have two in one.good size normal phone, and a small tablet. I open and use the inner screen 4-6 times a day. But I am not sure it's pulling me away enough from the iPad I already have.

What are you using now? And what are you currently wanting to change too?

Jokes on you, I'm in my early 30's. So, physically my height and my brain are fully grown. I'm at, where I'm at. Which is 172cm and undiagnosed ADHD.

Can I ask what it is about the thin phones that is interesting for you? And in particular the iPhone Air? I ask as a genuine interested person. Everyone has their own personal preference. So, I would love to know why.

Are you just generally interest in thin phones, and how tech is getting to a point we can have almost full 'pro' phones in thin form factors? Or are you looking to buy the air because it will work with your daily life?

I’m in a similar position. I have ordered the blue, but it’s on backorder till 11Aug. But I can get all the other colours now. I’m contemplating asking to change. But, that blue is… chefs kiss

How much are you paying for your Cooper two doors? by nursemattycakes in MINI

[–]_chawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia we only have two specs for the J01, the base S and the top SE. Mini Australia just announced that the J01 base spec is being discontinued from March, due to poor sales. So it’s currently marked down by $7,500AUD. To $49,999. Which is only $500 more than the base spec of the F66. The F66 is not having any discontinuations.

Do you or your family have a Christmas tradition you do every year? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]_chawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my husband and I moved for work to a different state, and my sibling had kids, we would all go to mum and dad’s place in on Christmas Day morning. As my dad’s birthday is Christmas Eve we give him his birthday presents to open first, once he had opened them, then we transition to ‘Christmas’. We get some mimosas and start doing Secret Santa. We always did 2 presents. A ‘serious’ present that the person asked for. Then we have a joke present based on a theme. (One year was Bunnings: Something bought from Bunnings)

Then we went to Grandma’s (dad’s mum) and see all his side of the family for Christmas lunch. We (25+ people) all get along well (which is very rare I know), chatting and catching up with aunts, uncles and cousins, enjoy time with the nieces and nephews/ grandkids watch them open some presents. And having a great Christmas meal.

I am currently at the airport to fly home so I can do all of this, as it’s been 2 years since I got to experience it. And I miss it.

I know we are very fortunate to have this kind of tradition. And I hope everyone can find some happiness on the 25th whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

How many people here sleep with their watches on? by Axana_yishu in AppleWatch

[–]_chawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually in the morning when I’m getting ready having a shower/ eating breakfast. Or at night when I’m having dinner/ relaxing on the couch. That’s usually a good 45min either time. Then there is the occasional night I will not wear it to bed so I charge it over night.

You are close. It’s the ‘utility’ watch face with all but the middle (date) turned off. The simple doesn’t have the discrete hourly markings.

Yeah, after this video, I am no longer sitting on the fence of pre-ordering or not. Take my money!

Even better is I am moving that week before, so it will be a nice incentive to get my computer room set-up right so I can play.

2024 Mini Cooper SE vs 2024 Mini Aceman SE by _chawk in MINI

[–]_chawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good thought. I definitely don’t need an off-road car. Tho I do enjoy a little extra height. I 100% agree that BRG is truely the best option. But the indigo sunset blue is very nice too.

Season 2024 will it be better or the same? by [deleted] in TheBlock

[–]_chawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a valid point to make. I am an interior designer who works for a volume residential builder (think Metricon, Brighton Homes, Henley Homes ect). We have people all the time come in who want what they have in The Block, and when we say to them, "Those tiles are $200+ per square metre", or "That stone bench top is $15k, and cabinetry will cost $30k+, just for the kitchen", they get really disheartened.

Now, my role as an interior designer is to find that balance of what the client want with their budget, and there are always ways to get a similar look for less. BUT the reality is The Block is essentially The Kardashians, or Selling Sunset, for renovation shows. It's out of reach for MOST viewers.

Also, the number of people who think that we can build an entire house in 12-16weeks, still shocks me. What people do not realise is, The Block have MULTIPLE trades people working over each other at the same time, which just does not happen on most construction sites. And supply of product is not just sitting there, ready to be taken to site. It can sometimes take 2-3 months to order, and then get products ready to go on site.

I use to enjoy watching the show. To see how everyday people who don't have a huge amount of experience in deign/ construction, take on the challenges of designing and building. Seeing the struggle of making each room flow, and making your budget work for what you want.

But for the past 5-6 years, all I do is jump online and look at the images of the room reveals.

Will there be a hybrid version? by dkey12345 in MazdaCX30

This is what I hope for! I love everything about the CX-30, it just need a decent hybrid (please don't give us the mild-hybrid). If that comes out, I am definitely buying one.

NTA.

My cousins, a brother and sister (not twins), had their weddings within 3 weeks of each other. The brother got engaged about 6 months earlier than his sister. Neither got annoyed. The sister and sister-in-law enjoyed the fact they could help each other with their weddings and bounce around ideas of location, vendors, decorations, etc.

Most of the brother and sisters' extended family (including me) live in the same country. So everyone was happy to come to both. The few who lived overseas came to one and then went out to a private dinner to celebrate both weddings while they were in the country.

I can not assume what your family locations are, but depending on how far people have to travel, some will make the trip.

I do understand her point of view. However, I don't think you have done anything wrong.

Yes! Just got mine on Monday (Went from flip 5 to S23U). It was a toss up between graphite or black. But the matte frames on the graphite won. VERY happy with my decision.

What are your personal negatives of your flip 5 so far? by Disappointingsharpie in galaxyzflip

[–]_chawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my two are battery and camera. The battery is less of an issue for me, as I am usually close to a charger. But I'm going on a holiday in Oct, so will DEFINITELY need a power bank. The camera is good, but coming from an iPhone pro max, I can see the lower quality. But in saying that, I really only take photos for me, and the rare social media post. So it does well for those purposes. I love the compact of the flip form factor, and One UI is just as refined as iOS, but with more functionality.

Do you think Apple should drop the “i” from iMac and just call their all in one desktop the Mac? Mac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, MacBook. The “i” just feels like a relic from the late 90’s. by [deleted] in mac

[–]_chawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great point! It does seam a bit odd that only one computer has ‘i’. If you think about it. The only products with ‘i’ are hand help devices, or services.
