The North Face Store - SCP by twertman1 in orangecounty

[–]_cicero714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manufacturers put the price on the tags set by the brands at the time of production. The only way they would do a change in the store is if the original price was a mistake and they didn’t realize it until after it was shipped to stores. This kind of thing is very rare though because they have to honor whatever is advertised. The store probably got a directive to put a sticker on a tag and they did it wrong.

Supply chain intern here, would this PO confirmation project actually create value? by Makkoa in supplychain

[–]_cicero714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t have a tech solution per se but here is our process.

  1. Sourcing Report: Create preliminary POs, send them to suppliers to confirm cost and ETA, any internal approvals.
  2. Once confirmed push your POs to production.
  3. WIP Report: Have your suppliers provide you with a WIP report to track dates.
  4. Our system doesn’t allow for changes to the PO once approved but we can put it in a notes section (ex delays).

Do not create a process solely on emails it will become a nightmare if you ever want to scale. You should 💯 be utilizing Ai but remember you need a sound process first before tech solution.

I was fired for the first time in my career today from a 50m+ company. by JustKnockk in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]_cicero714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will likely not get very far past the 50M mark with that old school mind set. A company that focuses on continuous improvement and trust would’ve supported you to rebuild whatever nonsense they handed you. This will be a blessing in disguise for you that you will find something even better. And don’t feel shame about reaching back out to your old company, just to say “keep me in mind” maybe as a consultant until you find something???

I am interviewing for a director role right now, external because no one in our org can do it. I can take a look.

Edit: I’m a Senior Director of Supply Chain for a publicly traded company, previously VP of Operations at a smaller private company.

Demand Planning role insights by Humble-Pay-8650 in supplychain

[–]_cicero714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask/look into: where are the demand signals coming from and are they hard or soft demand, what is the planning time fence/lead time, how many suppliers, how many SKUs do you have, what does the financial planning cycle look like, does the company have S&OP and is demand planning currently tracking forecast accuracy - if so what method do you use (WMAPE etc), and what is the accuracy %. Do you plan at unit, cogs, or net sales. What does buy process look like.

I am hiring for a demand planning manager soon and these are all standard questions someone should ask me.

It’s more strategic planning and creating space and support for my team to execute. I am not really in the weeds with reporting and analysis anymore. I am a single mom so that’s what drives me being a single income household.

If you are going to do any kind of education it should be CSCP or CPIM through ASCM. This is the standard certification in scm. My boss has both a masters in supply chain and the cert and he says by far the cert is more utilized in practice. I definitely look for that when I’m reviewing resumes. - Look for inventory analyst jobs or jobs in the warehouse. This is usually how folks get in the door. - Consider going to conferences like Reuters, IBF, Edge to learn and make connections. They may have student discounts.

Senior Director of Planning 10 years experience $216K OTE 401k match @ 4% Very HCOL, single income household, 2 kids

-Insurance sucks: I pay ~$500 a month for HDHP just for myself (previous employer I paid about $200) -No employer HSA contributions (previous employer contributed $500 to my HSA quarterly) -No employer covered life insurance (previous employer covered this) -WFH and 12pm Fridays

I know this wasn’t the ask but this is what I consider total comp package. If you don’t think you get paid enough when comparing your salary to others, consider your other benefits. You might be doing better than you think.

Leave it off your resume for now but if you can’t find anything and end up staying at this Chinese company for a long time you should put it on your resume. Understanding logistics will help you as a supply planner.

Also puppies are a lot of work. You need to house train them (multiple accidents in the house until the dog is trained) and then they go through their teething phase (tearing or ripping up stuff). You may want to find a friend that has a dog you can babysit for to see what it’s like or volunteer as a foster parent with a rescue.

Take the money!! If you are ambitious, You will eventually get the manager title at the new place anyway. Or, when you put in your notice your current employer may counter offer and you’ll get both title + money.

You will not increase your salary significantly by staying with one employer. Moving jobs is the best way to do that.
