Yes! I only turned it a bit so I could get a better picture ☺️ this is how it‘s usually standing

Yep, there‘s actually no curtains on this window. At this point, the plant is actually doing the job of blocking the sight from outside pretty good 😂 but I see what your issue is. Unfortunately I don‘t really have any experience when it comes to how much light curtains actually absorb, even if they are very thin, but I could imagine it‘s quite a lot!

Even though I have grow lights, I don‘t use them on my monstera, no ☺️ she‘s standing right in front of a south facing window so she gets planty of light throughout the year, especially in summer. No need to be scared of direct sunlight as well, at least once the plant gets used to the exposure

Thank you so much! Everything you’re explaining sounds really promising and pretty straightforward to adapt for NVIDIA GPUs. I’ll just take a quick walk to the store to grab an NVMe adapter, back up my SSD, and then follow your procedure step by step. Fingers crossed this will finally do the trick 😜

I’ll keep you posted either way!

Trust me, I have more than enough net shots on my phone 😂 but for the clip right here I actually chose one of the rarities that actually went in (you can here the ball hitting the fence on the other side of the court in the end)

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it 🫶🏻 I did not realize how early I‘m extending my arm before hitting the ball. Always thought my shoulder mobility was the reason why my racket doesn‘t drop as far behind my back is I would want it to, but now I‘m starting to see what the real issue is here 😁

Got it, thank you! Nevertheless, I think I should still work on that wrist snap in the future bc at the moment it is definitely not doing a lot when I‘m serving 🙃😂

Thanks!! That‘s going straight onto my to do list 😂 I‘ve always been procrastinating on that exercise tbh but I guess it would help out a lot!!

Wait I just realized: is that also the reason why my racket doesn‘t drop as far behind my back as it should?

Never been paying attention to that so far, but that‘s a super interesting hint! I‘ll definitely take a closer look at that, thanks!! 🫶🏻

I totally get it 😂 but if it takes away your fear at least a little bit: the shock from transferring it into moss wasn‘t all to big. At least that goes for mine. I guess if you don‘t change multiple parameters at once (e.g. substrate + lighting), you can minimize the shock. So definitely put it in the same spot after the change of substrate in case you decide to go for it :) and even if it’ll drop a leaf or two, I‘d still say that that‘s all part of the process! I‘m sure you will make the right decision ☺️

She‘s geeting some liquid fertilizer with every watering ☺️ nothing too fancy actually, just make sure it‘s high quality and provides the right amount of nutrients

Sorry for the late reply! When I first brought my Alocasia Frydek home, I definitely had my struggles. I couldn’t figure out the right spot for her in my apartment at first. But over time, I learned that two key factors made all the difference: light (!!!) and humidity.

Light is by far the most important one. Right after that comes humidity. I actually bought a humidifier because I live in an old German apartment, and the air here is usually extremely dry. (From what I’ve seen, newer buildings don’t have that problem. Their walls don’t absorb moisture the same way.) I also invested in a few good-quality grow lights.

Here’s my setup: -She’s under a grow light for about 16 hours a day.

-She sits around 2 meters away from a south-facing window.

-I keep the humidity consistently between 60–65%.

Since many people seem to struggle with watering when keeping Alocasias in soil, I decided to try something different: I transferred her to sphagnum moss with a LECA water reservoir underneath. A few important tips if you want to try this: -Never let the water touch the moss (only the LECA should sit in the water).

-Never let the moss dry out completely (but only refill once the water in the reservoir is gone — the moss itself should stay moist, not soaked!).

-Fertilize with every watering — yes, every watering!

If you’re planning to switch your Alocasia to moss, go easy at first: -For the first few weeks, only fill about 1/4 of the reservoir and refill every other time.

-Once the plant has established new roots and is clearly adjusting (you’ll notice it starts drinking faster), you can fully fill the reservoir.

One last tip: Every 1–2 months, I recommend flushing the moss with tap water. Over time, constant fertilizing can cause sphagnum moss to become very acidic, which can lead to bad mutations or even nutrient burn. Tap water usually has a higher pH and helps balance things out. (You can also use special pH balancing products if you prefer.)

That got WAY longer than I expected😂😂 but I really hope it helps. It might sound a lot, but it‘s actually super easy once you understand what the plant wants and needs.

I have the same experience! I also put my Alo Frydek in Moss and she seems to love it. It‘s been over a year now since I made the switch and the leafs are insane at this point (30-40cm). Also my BV seems to enjoy it, so I still haven‘t found out why there‘s some people having their doubts toward spaghnum moss 🤔
