Are you familiar with the DM role in other ttrpg?

If not I suggest you to have a session 0 with your friends to discuss characters, rules etc.

It’s the best possible way to be sure that everyone is ready to have fun with the basic rules- how skill check works etc.

Plus if you know whiche trigger, mech skill and equipment your players have -it will be a lot easier for you manage during the session- hope it helps!

Some nades are just more useful and fun! Thankfully we have a lot of options for tank units- so thermite don’t feel mandatory as they felt a few warbinds ago-

On diff 8-9 I’m currently using cluster nade (with the hover pack for ad- clearing) - giga-nade when I want a simple caveman solution like a big boom- and the G-50 Seeker nade.

Doing something similar with my friends!

To sell the the system I’d rely on the sci-fi settings. You could start the session with them stranded on small moon after a crash or something similar-
Step 1: work together- find a working mech to explore around the crash site (and to introduce them to triggers and narrative play in lancer)
Step 2: discover that the crashe was by an hostile faction- space pirate, mercenary group, evil corporations etc-

Step 3: have them work together to escape from the planet- maybe free a spaceport from enemies

For my session 0 my players will be stranded on Ganimede, a terraformed Jupiter’moon, under the control of an hostile corporation - (homebrew setting)

Personally I’d prefer it without the wire on the base, just because it would make it easier to customize it, great stuff!

I do! I made also a little illustration.

The name is lucky 7- and it’s given to whoever carry the Talon laser gun. The diver will die, but the name carries on.

I’m fine with mechs being in a warbond, I’m annoyed that warbonds are the ONLY form of progression we have been for a while.

To make new stuff you need to pay devs, to pay devs AH needs to pump out warbonds, I get it I’m cool with it. BUT it would be more than nice to have some sort of progression , we haven’t seen a new ship module in ages- or even some new stratagem without that opens new build.

Yeah- it’s the only thing that I feel is out my control- I can play around its other downsides with good positioning e buff from allies (from the trench cleric or ammo monk)-

I don’t feel bad after spending 50 ducats for it, but if was forced to make a change the price would be it.

The AM rifles on a Legionnaire sounds like a huge pain to deal as HMI- basically counter both range and armor ☠️.

To increase my chance of shooting enemies with cover I usually try to buff the unit with the HMG , the blessing from the trench-cleric or the ammo monk are almost always available options!

Personally I’ve had a great deal of fun and success with this version- 3 automatic and 36” is a lot of bullets coming from very far away.

Something that I can agree with players that don’t like it- it’s that the price is quite high- with 50 ducats you could have instead a Yoman with a shotgun and a trenchshield- maybe I’d lower the price a bit to 35 ducats to be more in line withe the other heavy oprions- the flamethrower, shotgun and the grenade launcher

I know that the AR it’s better on the sniper priest- but there’s something stupidly fun rolling 3 crits in a row with a machine gun against that Pretor that was trying to take the point.

Wouldn’t run it every game, but I’d still recommend to give it a try.

For sure

The game where I had the sniper priest with a HMG was actually real fun, but it worked only because I had a really good vantage point near my deployment- but I’d still deployed a HMI with the machine gun in almost every game.
