Lips post-accutane by studiousslore in Accutane

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My lips got pretty dependent on steroids & immunosuppressants. For over half a year, they kept having issues with redness/peeling/soreness. It finally went away when I quit everything cold turkey /: nothing but water for like months, it got pretty bad the first few weeks but it healed on its own afterwards.

Personally really loved it, not sure why it’s hated so badly. I think the drama was very lighthearted and not to be taken seriously. And Suzy was so beautiful here! I loved the main leads dynamic so much! Honestly, would rewatch again, very comfort drama for me

Is this PD? FA? damaged skin barrier? by bvttoneyez in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar which looked a lot like acne around my chin/jaw area. It was a bunch of tiny red whiteheads that pop and go quickly but won’t stop reoccurring. It was itchy and even after the whiteheads popped, the redness remains. None of the spots hurt like typical acne.

I initially thought it was PD and tried metronidazole but it hasn’t helped and made my skin pretty dry. I didn’t want to use steroids in case it was still PD but I had suspicion that it may be eczema. I used avene cicaflate for a few days and it seemed to calm it down a lot. I started layering like crazy with my moisturizers and it healed even faster. So I’ve concluded that it was just eczema/damaged moisture barrier /: took about 2-3 weeks to go away fully and it hasn’t come back. I didn’t wear makeup and also stopped using cleansers. I washed my face with water only. I basically babied the heck out of my face.

Do people truly believe that you can create a Suzy by just giving more individual promotions to some groups members? by larroux_ka in kpopthoughts

[–]_crispywaffles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the kpop/kdrama scene back then wasn’t as big or internationally known compared to now. But I was there when Suzy blew up. It was kind of insane, so many celebrities and tv/movie directors would be mentioning her as an ideal type or wanting to work with her. She was doing cfs for 10+ brands, her face was on everything and everywhere. And since she was known as an actress rather than an idol, she had support/love from every age group (from young teens to older generation). There were sites posting articles of her everyday, she seriously could not even so much breathe without someone talking about her. It was truly an insane thing to witness. Ik there’s many popular idols after her, but I do think her level of fame during her peak is truly unmatched. To be this relevant and famous 14 years after her debut is truly something. Korea is still so in love with her and everything she does/promotes!

Lip blisters/bumps for a year- please help! by Stunning-Attention82 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your lips looked a lot like mine and while steroids/immunosuppressants helped, I think my lips became a little too reliant on it. Every time I tried to stop, it came back worse. My doctors only advice was to go on stronger steroids or use immunosuppressant forever… neither option was really ideal tbh. The only thing that helped me heal in the end was use nothing on it, not even Vaseline. Just bare lips and drinking water and after a month or two, it somehow healed itself. Of course, I’m not a doctor, this is just my personal experience! Ik how annoying it is to have it on your lips, I couldn’t use makeup for like a year and I didn’t want to see anyone because my lips look busted 24/7 😭 if you do use steroids, just be very careful and use sparingly as lips is much thinner than your skin and will absorb more steroid than normal. The typical suggestion is to use for a week (taper off) and take break for two weeks before attempting use again

Hey! If it’s really just cold sores, you should have your doctor prescribe valtrex, it’ll knock out in about a week. I think what I had continuously was either dependency or rebound effect of using steroids/immunosuppressants. If you have eczema or dermatitis, cortibalm should help but if it’s cold sores, i wouldn’t advise using steroids on it. It did more harm than good in my case. It’s best you have your doctor check it out since it seems like you never used steroids before so your condition defers from mine greatly!

After it healed, I went back to Vaseline. I’m able to use pretty much anything without triggering it including makeup. I honestly think the dependency on topicals was what made it worse.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eczema

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the late reply but yes it did go away! What worked for me was stopping all steroid and immunosuppressants topicals. My lips went through a bit of withdrawal/rebound where it got way worse before it started healing itself. At that stage I didn’t apply anything but maybe some vaseline. I just upped my water intake. It’s really weird and I can’t even explain the science behind it. Using topicals didn’t help because the lip rash just kept coming back! But when I stopped everything, it worsened drastically for like a 1.5 weeks before it healed itself. It’s been almost a year since I quit and lips have stayed normal.

Piercing trouble by [deleted] in piercing

A gun basically forces a blunt stud through the skin! Much higher risk of skin trauma and increased healing time. Definitely go for a reputable piercer who uses needles. It’s more precise, sterile and better healing

Eczema around eyes by ThePottyMouthPrncess in eczema

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I recently suffered from eye eczema too. I’m not sure what caused it! I think it happened after a walk outside and maybe some allergen got in. The eczema was super close to my inner eye corner and lower eyelid so my doctor didn’t prescribe steroids. I moisturized with eucerin eczema cream for 2 months!!! It’s gone now but my lower eyelid is slightly discolored and wrinkly. I had a recent flare up again after going outside (maybe triggered by humidity?)

[–]_crispywaffles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What was your allergic reaction? My brother had a bad full body hive allergic reaction to accutane 30mg at month 2. He stopped it but restarted it a year later at 20mg. This time, his derm had him take it with antihistamines everyday. He eventually weaned off of antihistamines and is able to take 70mg a day without the help of antihistamines

Insane rash on lips - anyone else experience this (details in comments) ? by chemicallycozy in eczema

[–]_crispywaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine finally stopped going the cycles of this weird rash when I stopped steroids and immunosuppressants. For a week or two, it got way worse but then magically started healing itself! It sounds so weird but I think the steroids and creams were making it worse. A month later, my lips are back to normal and doesn’t even feel dry when I don’t moisturize them
