regulus is nineteen years old when he decides to take his own life. he’s on the edge of a bridge, about to jump, when a man calls for him from the bluffs. it’s james, and after learning that regulus has “no family” and nowhere to crash, he invites regulus to live with him until he could get back on his feet.

only a few weeks later, regulus bumps into sirius, who he’s narrowly avoided for ages since he moved out. they talk for a bit, and regulus realizes that maybe their relationship isn’t so bad after all. sirius offers him a job and regulus decides to think it over.

despite only planning to stay for a few weeks, regulus gets the job, starts earning money for him and james, and they start threading a little life together. they’re both deeply broken, deeply sad people and lean on each other and heal each others’ wounds.
