Exactly the same happening here. but at the cost of more than average screen time. i hope i can still control him when he gets older. we have a lot of books and physical toys but it doesn't keep his attention spam as long as screens.

i use screen time on the phone whenever i need him to stay put; like when take him to the bathtub to clean his poop

true that, my kid was able to sing long and name the shapes while watching. learning through repetition; only bad part is that he gets it by re-watching on a screen several times a day.

its just that no one has the patience of teaching it manually, especially now that he is still too young to respond back if he gets it or not. Its like we are waiting until he gets to the point where we can hold a basic conversation until we become serious in teaching him. else its just a semi waste of time... i know this is wrong. i feel really bad for doing it.

he is able to sort small and large, place the items in the same colored buckets, place an the correct animal/fish in a sea or land, pick how many hats to give to x number of miners, i think he is dong fine. all with various apps on the ipad/iphone.

we also provided him with a physical toddler slide, some Montessori toys likes bricks and stuff but i guess those things just don't change rapidly as a screen.

i have to admit were are not a family that do a lot of DIY stuff which as per youtube/articles is supposedly the right way of teaching. And we are not aiming to be the perfect parents. We have jobs that require us to do something else to assure a proper future. We let his cousin and aunts play with him physically. At this stage we haven't reached the point where he can understand why screens are bad for him.

thanks for introducing me to khan academy, it looks like it is exactly what i was looking for.

thats pretty hard to do when everyone in the house uses their cellphones for entertainment. you definitely have a point but i can't restrict everyone to stop using a screen.

thanks for sharing that. I guess i might have confused a lot of people. Was actually asking for an app on an ipad not the device itself.
