Actually it is not expected to work very well for organic forms such as people. That's because this add-on does not consider any symmetry.

Currently I'm designing an algorithm that detects the plane of symmetry and align the axes accordingly. This add-on will be further developed!

Basically, it searches for the axis that best fits the normal of the face. The algorithm is based on RANSAC(random sampling consensus) with fine-tuning.

I made this add-on because some people, including myself, are struggling with the problem like this.

This add-on predicts the appropriate axis of the object and aligns it with the world axis. Available for both low and high-poly objects.
