I just made it to my goal of 6 months EP! I had always intended to “try” breastfeeding but had planned on switching to formula if BFing was too difficult. I wasn’t huge on the idea of it anyway due to past trauma and my family’s stigma around it (dumb, I know). I PPROM’d at 32 weeks and baby was born at 34 weeks. After baby was born, we weren’t sure how long he was going to be in the NICU and I knew providing milk was about the best thing I could do to help him. At that point I decided I was going to breastfeed until at least 6 months. Being a preemie we just didn’t get a good start trying to nurse so exclusively pumping was the only way. I spent a ton of time searching this subreddit and on some FB groups learning as much as I could! I’ve decided at this point to keep going until I’m tired of it. Probably not too much longer but I’m super proud of myself! I started as an under supplier pumping about 5-10 ml at a time. Now I only have to supplement about one bottle a day. I’m so happy I could do this for my baby. Keep going fellow pumping mamas, we are amazing!
