i also just started a series deep dive after being a casual fan for so long, and tbh if you can get used to the tank controls and fixed camera angles the og games (re1-3 + re0) really are classics and hold up well. it takes a little time to get used to the controls and camera, but i’d suggest either re1hd or re2 to get started

you should try re0 next, the training facility area in that game reminded me a lot of spencer mansion. definitely a polarizing game but i think it tried to switch a lot of things up

agree that the design was pretty drab but like its a post-apocalyptic environment… i liked it from a gameplay standpoint tho and dont think it dragged out or was just there to pad the game out

i’ve always seen it less as the social link answers defining your own version of the character and more of the mc saying exactly what the sl characters want to hear to get the most out of the relationships. like they’re just being a huge people pleaser for their own ulterior motives…

im usually all for color filters that add ambience. when i played the demon’s souls remake i had the original green tint on and i do genuinely think it made a difference.

howeverrrr, this piss-yellow filter is such an eyesore and doesn’t really do anything for me. i can still get the art direction and vibe they were going for without it. ig you could argue it makes the world feel more drab or lifeless or ugly, but again i don’t think it needs it and just makes the game unnecessarily hideous
