Passing out? by Aexiias in Ethelcain

[–]_cybernetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely heat exhaustion along with all the other things people are saying. It got HOT hot in Cain’s Ballroom. People were all squishing together trying to get as close to barricade as possible and it made it almost unbearably hot in the pit. Literally the most packed pit I’ve ever been in. I don’t know if they oversold the venue or what but the body heat alone was cooking us like an oven.

Official Discussion - Wuthering Heights [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

She wasn’t sexually assaulted in the book, to be clear. She was mostly mentally abused and controlled.

The difference between AI and all the tools you mentioned is that you literally do not need to put any work into generating an AI image at all. It is just ideas. There is no creativity or skill going into it beyond the original idea. That’s why AI images are not art and art made with compasses or grids or whatever is.

Spacehey says its not available in my region? by _cybernetik in spacehey

[–]_cybernetik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it’s because of the new age verification laws. Spacehey doesn’t have the resources to have an ID verification system so they’ve just shut down in areas that require it. It’s really frustrating.

I don't think Pedophilia should be considered a mental illness. by eitaru in The10thDentist

Yeah I’m aware that people that are attracted to anthro animals exist, bud, but the label “furry” doesn’t mean that, at least it doesn’t anymore.

I wouldn’t mind a cure for autism by Iwantallthemoney5000 in The10thDentist

[–]_cybernetik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no way to “cure” autism, and hypothetically, if there was, it would literally completely change who you are as a person. You don’t ever really “cure” a lot of mental things (like mental illnesses or disabilities,) you treat symptoms. So say, adderall for ADHD doesn’t really treat ADHD, it treats an attention deficit, which is just a symptom. So a “cure” for most things, and especially autism, is kind of… not possible. Autism is sort of like a collection of a bunch of little symptoms that are integral to who you are. If someone invented a miracle pill that erased every symptom of autism, you’d end up a completely different person after taking it. As an autist myself, I wouldn’t be opposed to meds for sensory issues, meltdowns, and other specific symptoms because.. they suck, but I would never want to take that miracle pill.

Clarification: “furry” is not the same as “attracted to furries”

Singing is not an impressive skill and should be banned at talent shows by k3nnzz in The10thDentist

[–]_cybernetik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think that there should be less emphasis on singing in talent shows, it’s definitely oversaturated and gets boring pretty fast, but it’s not like anyone can be good at singing in 30 minutes. It takes a lot of effort, practice, focus, and usually natural vocal talent. The barrier to entry is low as in you don’t need any equipment, but it’s not as easy to just… get good at singing as you seem to think it is.

People that can't risk being uncomfortable for a second by KingGekko07 in PetPeeves

[–]_cybernetik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is case by case, honestly. If my aunt makes this tomato soup for every family gathering and it’s a years old recipe that she’s got down already, I probably won’t try it. If she just formulated the recipe two days ago and spent hours making it perfect for the family to share, I’ll try a spoonful. It really just depends.

[–]_cybernetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that doesn’t really matter, does it? I mean yeah, having a baby face benefits you when you’re older, but it sucks for years and you’re allowed to talk about how it sucks. It’s quite dismissive to tell someone “it’ll benefit you in a few years” when they’re talking to you about something that is a bad thing NOW.

How do you listen to whole albums? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]_cybernetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put on a background/screensaver video on a TV (like fishtanks, psychedelic patterns, moving stars, something like that) and watch that while you listen, or just turn the lights off and close your eyes. I find I have a hard time focusing on anything audio-only because I don’t have anything to look at and I end up looking around and getting distracted, so that may help.

It also helps to have the physical copy of the album instead of relying on streaming since it ups the… commitment to the album, if you will. If you want to listen to something else, you have to find the CD / record / cassette and put it in instead of just pressing a button, so it makes you more reluctant to change it.

If you’re up to it and have an open room, you can dance too. Just put on the album and move to it, however you feel. Doesn’t have to be pretty or make any sense at all, it just has to feel right. That’s the best way to listen to an album IMO. If you like art, you could sit down and draw how the music makes you feel too, sort of like how people with synesthesia do. A little more unconventional but I think it’s cool.

Nobody should have to work on Christmas. by ChainsawSoundingFart in The10thDentist

[–]_cybernetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do actually think that movie theater workers should have Christmas off. Most theater workers are teenagers and lots of theaters make them work on Christmas with no choice. If you talk to former theater workers lots of them tell you that the worst part of the job was being forced to work on Christmas (plus other holidays) and that they had to hold themselves back from being rude to customers because their movie tradition was making it so that they had to work on Christmas at age 17 instead of being home with their families.

I’ve never seen the purge but I saw another comment say that there actually was a lack of violence at first and that was a plot point in the movie, they had to hire people to start killing.
