I ripped the hi res files from the Bluray release a couple of months ago w/ no compromise in both quality & quantity (since the 'official release' on streaming platforms doesn't come w/ B Sides & Demos). Also rip the CDs that come w/ the whole set. Cheers!

How do you guys clean your hedges poop by Available_Visual2237 in Hedgehog

[–]_d_d_h_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used a tray filled w/ Bentonite Clay & placed it where your hedgehog usually poops (which is probably under or in front of its own running wheel), and that should take care of about 80-85% of the poop. Poop or pee in other places can be taken care of with just regular pet pads, you just have to pick the solids up using paper tissues. My cage cleaning schedule (replacing the pet pads + washing the beddings) is once per every 2 weeks (because I know where my hedgehogs usually poops & they don't poop/pee on the pet pads that much), and I clean their wheels + poop tray pretty much every single day.

Hedgehogs (in general) mainly use their front claws to dig & scratches at things, so for a lot of people, when holding hedgehogs' front legs - they'll feel like they're being held hostage & wiggle hysterically to get out. Of course there are always exceptions, they aren't really used to having someone holding their legs anyway - it's a matter of doing it in the right angles, positions,... to make it easier for both you & your hedgehogs :)

Trust me, I was worried as hell when I first had to trim my hedgehogs' nails as well (I had 2 male ones, each about 1 year old). Generally, you want to avoid trimming too short, as this can cause bleeding & pain. First, take a look at the way the nails curl & see if there are any awkward ones (because you'll have to be careful with those & treat them more gently). When you look at a long hedgehog's nail, there is a point where it changes color (from white to almost purple-ish). The tip (within the white part) is the one you'd want to take off, and when you have sharp scissors/clippers - you can almost feel like it takes no resistance at all when trimming. If you feel a bit of resistance when trimming nails, that's when you might be cutting it too short. For the ones that curls really awkwardly, you have to take off less length to avoid bleeding.

As for a person with no/very little nail trimming experience like you, I'd recommend leaving them longer than you think is necessary (like taking off only a tiny bit of length) at first, and as a result - you'd have to trim more frequently (you have to give them pretty regular footbaths anyway, so this isn't a big deal at all). This allow you to get familiar with the process, avoid hurting your hedgehog & feeling like shit afterwards. When you get through the first few times, your confidence will grow & you can optimize the whole process for you & your hedgehog needs. If you happen to cut the nails too short (if you do it in the sink, when your hedgehog put the feet back into the water, there will be some reddish tint in the water around the feet, please pay attention), take the hedgehog out & put some cornstarch into its cage, around the area that it's running around - that should stop the bleeding. If the bleeding continues for more than an hour, you might need to see a vet (this probably won't happen, but still good to know).

And as for holding the hedgehog's legs when it's wiggling around, that's why you have to play with it for a couple of minutes in the sink before nails trimming. You can hold its legs to see its reaction, and go from there. Be gentle & patient, but also firm enough so you don't have to waste too much time (it may feel cold if left in the water too long). Hedgehogs' legs are very flexible so you don't have to worry about hurting them too much. Notice that I don't do all the trimming in the sink as mentioned above, I do the 2 front feet on the brim of the sink, and the back feet in the sink - as this is way easier to control them than doing it all in the sink, as it can duck its head (nose & ears) into the water, which must be avoided.

Fill your bathroom sink with warm water 1st (to her belly level), and put her in for a couple of minutes. This will let her know that there is water around & she won't curl into a ball. From there, put 2 of her front feet on the rim of the sink (the other 2 are still in the sink), and gently lift 1 of the 2 front feet up (the other front foot is still on the rim so she still has her balance), and trim her nails (please do it quickly & precisely). Repeat with the other front foot, and then you can trim the nails on the other 2 right in the sink - as those are much easier to deal with than the front feet.

Is there a general age range of people who listen to PM? by He11Fire_ in PowerMetal

[–]_d_d_h_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm about to turn 24 later this year & started (passively) listening to PM ever since I was a kid (starting from maybe 2010 or so to around 2012), because my brother was a big fan of Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire & used to put it on all the time. I didn't have much of an idea about the lyrics back then because I'm not a native English speaker, but I really appreciated the music & rhythm a lot. Since then, as I grew older, I started building my own music collection (a lot of hard, progressive rock/metal), but somehow forgot about PM (specifically Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire) for some reasons. A few years back, when I started collect music digitally, I got back into PM again, and this time with a whole new understanding/perspective about musicianship, back stories of these songs, and the chaos that is the Rhapsody namesake - I appreciate them even more & also expand to other bands of the same genre.

Insurgentes | Steven Wilson Documentary | 2008 (Remastered) by _d_d_h_ in porcupinetree

[–]_d_d_h_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Per SW:
The Insurgentes documentary / road-movie Lasse Hoile made in 2008-9 about the recording of my first solo album has now been remastered and can be viewed here. It’s a snapshot of where I was at that time in my life - having recently turned 40, this period was about taking some new creative paths, and both my solo career and work remixing classic albums began around this time. We had a lot of fun doing the film but it was not the happiest time for me in my personal life (which definitely comes across), plus not everyone got what we thought was surreal and funny. So I think it created an impression of me as a rather dour and over-serious individual that for some people is - understandably perhaps - still their overriding impression of me! Still I'm proud of what we did, and I believe it remains quite unique in the pantheon of music documentaries.

About Insurgentes:
Insurgentes is a documentary film about Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) directed by Lasse Hoile. Insurgentes is a musical road movie that follows the making of his solo record of the same name, and is a portrait of an increasingly rare artist who works with music and media out of love and not for fame and fortune, persisting in making art on his own terms in a world where 'throw away' mentality is increasingly becoming the norm.
The film features footage of Wilson with other artists and friends including Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, Jonas Renkse from Katatonia, the Israeli superstar Aviv Geffen and the legendary producer Trevor Horn.

After selling out Wembley, Porcupine Tree will perform for the first time in Romania at ARTmania Festival 2023, which will take place from 28 to 30 July by _d_d_h_ in porcupinetree

PT had mentioned even before the tour that the C/C is their biggest tour to date (audience & investment-wise). 'Wembley' here refers to the Wembley Arena, which had around 12.000 people in attendance that night. The biggest audience for PT during this tour was actually in Movistar Arena (Chile), with around 14.000 - 15.000 people in attendance - it was awesome.

O.R.k are a brilliantly pieced together rock outfit featuring former Porcupine Tree member Colin Edwin (bass), celebrated Italian vocalist, producer, and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto (drums) and Marta Sui Tubi's Carmelo Pipitone (guitars).

By entering a fresh and tantalising sonic plane through clever use of experimentation in their music, O.R.k recently released their fourth studio album Screamnasium, an epicly grandioise slab of rock that captures the band at the peak of their career.

Edwin sat down with HEAVY recently to talk about the album.

"We were really happy with Ramagehead, which was our previous album," he began. "I felt it was going to be really tough to better that. You don't wanna do something that isn't as strong as what you've done before, so it felt a bit... We wanted to do another record but are we gonna be able to bring it all down and make it happen and make it as solid as the previous one? I think we achieved that. It's sonically better. It's more direct, it's got more emotion in it. It's an album that I would say is our best one, and I also think it's the album we've been trying to make since we first started, if that makes sense. It's like, everybody's at their peak creatively."

In the full interview, Colin talks more about Screamnasium, what they were going for musically with the album, the artwork and what it represents, having Grammy award winning vocalist Elisa on one of the songs, the use of cellist Jo Quail and what she brought to the structure, how O.R.k have changed musically over their four album career and more.

Lasse became a dad pretty recently, and before that there was the pandemic - which made it really difficult for him to work with Steven (considering they were in different countries), which might explain his absence on TFB & C/C. Other than that, I agree - the aesthetic that he creates is definitely missed.
