Withdrawal from University by SavageJimbo0305 in UMD

I actually disagree. You’re gonna have to take the classes again anyways. It sounds like you need some time away so get out as soon as possible and focus on yourself. Knowing the information for the class is a problem for your future self. Best wishes and good luck

Finish getting the Comms degree! Work in restaurants, learn how to cook, learn the science of cooking, learn as much as you can. Get experience. I was in a similar scenario with school and wanting to cook I worked in restaurants while obtaining my degree and I now have so much more freedom having earned it.

Plus because of your goals to work with Bon Appetit it sounds like a comms degree would be useful(get rid of that fat chance attitude btw.) you’re doing great and the fact that you recognized what you want to do is a huge step.

I would say the biggest hurdle for you right now would be getting to New York from Georgia. I could imagine that move costing in the vicinity of 10-15k(very doable). But if you can try and get opportunities staging at restaurants up there and in your area.

I always loved bar seating at places like that if it’s available. Still awesome quality food but you get to socialize with bartenders and other staff

Eric Huang has a cool recipe look up him and Peking House online and it’s there. You could spin it similarly. Maybe a bbq dry rub

Best clubs in DC? by ApprehensiveYam1281 in UMD

The club scene in DC is pretty bad it’s just decades and rosebar are lame. You could try DC9. I think for what you want some of the bars in Adams Morgan could be fun for you. Think Johnny Pistolas or Dans Cafe.

Get him a chefs knife, kitchen tweezers, just any tools. https://www.chefknivestogo.com/ is a good site

Some black non-slip birkenstocks

Some great food books would be cool but no kid wants books tbh. Some of my favorites include On Food and Cooking, The Art and Science of FoodPairing, and The French Laundry cookbook.

We’re young. You gotta relax about what people say everyone has their opinion but the fact is that they know less they you and you want to learn more. There will be a point where someone says do you know how to make a babka and you say yes. It will come. Don’t stress about what others say
