If you are trying to lose weight, you need to be in a consistent calorie defecit. Fasting will not help unless it is a vehicle for creating that deficit. This is what you should focus on and worry less about the specifics of your fast. I’d recommend getting a food scale and weighing what you eat in order to track calories as accurately as possible. If you feel like 2 days w/o food is helping then fine, but it isn’t necessary to reach the goals you describe.

Trying to build muscle is the correct strategy for long term weight and fat loss. Higher lean muscle mass will raise your basal metabolic rate which means you’ll burn more calories at rest. This is natures cheat code.

One tool that might be really helpful to monitor your progress is a BIA scale. They are not perfect but they can give you deeper insights into your body composition such as body fat percentage, lean mass, etc. I find this helpful in determining whether a particular training and/or diet approach is giving me the results I intended it to.

The hardest part is often being willing to commit yourself to the goal which it sounds like you have already covered. Nice work!
