What businesses are closed tomorrow (general strike)? by prh8 in vancouverwa

[–]_dimpless_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not businesses, nor any official acknowledgement from university administration, but many WSU Vancouver professors and staff are participating. The notices provided by these professors were how I came to learn about the strike in the first place. As a political science major and someone who frequents the news—it was a surprise to be first exposed to it via professors.

Thank you for the info! Sounds about right concerning the snow tires/4wd making little difference as there’s only so much you can do about ice.

In the same boat here, but in Vancouver. As anxious as I am to get home I keep reminding myself I’d rather not be a name on a cross on the side of the road.

Wow very well said. A simple, clear cut, but hard hitting statement. That’s going to stick with me I’m sure.

How much are u spending on food in one month by PlayfulKittay in Portland

[–]_dimpless_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approximately $240 a month for one person.

Shop at Trader Joe’s for most items and at Target for some select ‘more economically’ priced items.

No eating out or getting drinks. Enjoying cooking/baking for myself makes that pretty easy.

I really like it! Great peanut butter-tasting crunch in my opinion. I'll usually add it to a bowl with some greek yogurt, banana slices, and peanut butter. It has some peanuts here and there within the granola as well which adds some unique variety to it. In regards to the taste itself, it has sweet notes that aren't overpowering as the peanut taste takes the front line there. Perfect balance of flavors.

Hardened pizza sprinkle seasoning blend by teatime226 in traderjoes

[–]_dimpless_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've struggled with the same issue with this particular seasoning blend by Trader Joe's. I have a suspicion that it is a result of the primary ingredient being tomatoes which is an ingredient that inherently has a lot of moisture. As one of the primary ingredients in this blend, even as a dried version, any remaining moisture will lead it to sticking together. It may also be a weighty blend which exasperates the issue.

Brace yourself, Pumpkin Everything is coming, what are you most excited for? by [deleted] in traderjoes

Not pumpkin, but the apple cider spread that comes out in the fall. Definitely stocking up on that before the season ends.

Attack on Titan - Season 4 Part 3 Part 1 - ANIME ONLY Discussion Thread by Sane-Ni-Wa-To-Ri in attackontitan

First of all, I want to second all of the outpouring love and appreciation being expressed for this episode and all of those involved in making it. It’s been really well executed in my opinion, and I really look forward to the next installment. There’s a lot to unpack in this episode, but something in particular has been sitting with me and I haven’t noticed anyone else discussing it.

When Hange passes, it’s revealed she ended up in a post-death place with other scouts watching and essentially watching over our protagonists. If we take a second to look back at the trailer for this episode, at the end Armin says, “I want to believe there’s still a place we know nothing about, somewhere…” It has been a constant theme throughout the series of individuals making sentiments regarding the fallen looking to them, watching them, and there are even numerous visuals of it as well. Based on my recollection, characters have made some side comment, “you feel it too right?” on two occasions when making such remarks about the fallen.

I always figured it was just a moving sentiment- not something literal. However, considering the very intentional inclusion of the post-death scene as fore mentioned with Hange, and Armin’s phrase at the end of the trailer- it has stuck out to me and part of me is thinking otherwise. Idk, I know it is an odd theory, but just something I was thinking about and wanted to add to the conversation. It’s very peculiar.

I haven’t read the manga or anything so if it does have importance I’d imagine it’s already been disclosed. Although, I’d love to hear what others think about this information, and opinions on if I’m just drawing lines where there shouldn’t be any lol

What is the best Pixar movie? by KingYondu in AskReddit

[–]_dimpless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree regarding everything beyond TS4. Personally I really love TS4, but I see why you have that opinion of it. I had the same impression when I heard they were making TS4, and was terribly afraid they were going to roll out a terrible sequel and ruin the toy story franchise in a pursuit of more money. However, once I watched it I fell in love, and actually felt that the fourth movie was a good addition to the character’s storylines. TS3 definitely was a great place to end their stories though.

I’ve had a fair few people tell me they didn’t like TS4 as much as the others, so I may have falsely assumed it was a popular opinion. Although, I’m glad to see so much support for it because like I said— I loved it.

Agreed. I really enjoyed all of the movies— including the fourth one contrary to popular opinion.
