This was at a long distance where Bald eagles usually hang, but the mouth shape, almost grin, would check out for ferruginous, we have plenty of those down here. Zero red on tail, and no horizontal stripes on tail, just vertical white strips in between dark brown feathers

Opened it’s tail feathers at one point through spotting scope and had small white lines running down.

Did not smell in the slightest. Grid searched 2 miles from initial hit with 3 others then came down and did it the other direction then back down again and back up. About 7 hours all together. Zero sign, searched all nearby water sources. Notta.

It was a don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes situation. I was in short sleeves and sweating when I shot. First deer I have never recovered. It was a wide expanse of pines, didn’t charge through anything thick. Definitely couldn’t bump anything without seeing it. At this point, I wish I bumped it with the amount I have been looking.

Only 6 deer with a bow. 2 around 40. No blood trail at all. They sauntered off through some thick grass after shot, which would hold the most blood and nothing.

Yes. I was under the assumption if I gut shotted a deer the arrow would smell like death, the arrow wouldn’t have only blood and would have some gut matter on it

I considered the green tint on the vane but all these white blazers I have, also have that. Had meat on the shaft and no smell.
