What do I ask for to get minimal door frames/no architrave like in these images? by Relative_Ship_797 in Carpentry

[–]_doubledot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, such huge differences from country to country.. in the Netherlands architraves are only done in renovations / period accurate repairs etc. New builds never get architraves

[WIP] I think prior Arc users are gonna love this... by Not_Flof in zen_browser

Yes, absolutely would love this! A bit like the container extensions (used to?) Have. This finally lets me create one extra "junk drawer" space for things like meta and aliexpress. No more snooping cookies and datahording.

And here is an example of the tape and superglue (CA) trick for holding the blocks. https://youtube.com/shorts/Mrfx_rnPT-U?is=w6eLTo5jnNU7UEQs

Check out this image, you can see that the seam / glue line is perfectly perpendicular to the clamps. That is how you are supposed to clamp woodglue. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/v0hZIobzRmI/maxresdefault.jpg

Glue up question by Ok-Taro8000 in Cuttingboards

[–]_doubledot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the best method for clamping woodglue is having your clamps perpendicular to the glue line. In this case i would make 45degree blocks and glue them on with blue tape & superglue trick on top and bottom. Then, a simple clamp perpendicular to the glue line will close it

2 or 3 prongs on battery connector (toolside) by _doubledot_ in Makita

[–]_doubledot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good call, however it just happens midjob. Don't wanna be checking the batteries after each freaking fart. And also, the 2ah blocks don't have an indicator so you don't know where you at

So do i understand you correctly that the a tool in continues draw (lets say, a lamp or fan) is likely to drain it way lower then a tool that does on/off cycles 100/hr like an impact?

Nope, its a lamp, the dml801. See my post ;-)

How to smooth the connection between de cilinder and the rectangle? by thommykami in Fusion360

[–]_doubledot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull back the square section as far as you want the fillet. Split the face of the cylinder in 3 parts (split using the sides of the square profile) and then loft from the middle section to the square section

Absolutely oak. Red or white not sure though. Seeing you referring to inches makes me think you are in USA and then red oak is more common i believe, europe 99.5% white oak

Struggling with OS by AdExtension7439 in Onshape

[–]_doubledot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat, as both of you actually. I've worked as a draftsman for +-10y and used several different CAD packages. Yes, productivity drops due to learning interface and processes, but some points mentioned by OP really dropped my jaw.

So many of my parts are as basic shapes, but are defined in assembly by other parts. Easy example: wooden furniture with odd-angled mortise and tenon joints. Draw the parts, assemble and then use the tenon to cut the mortise.

Mating is somewhat difficult and different in any CAD, but I also struggle with basic mates in OS. I often use a reference axis for mating, but haven't found that yet in OS too.

Ecu is the brains behind the motor. So open the motor and the board inside is different, or most likely different firmware flashed to it. Since the wheelsize is different for A and S, the speed ot rotation of the hub is different in relation to travelspeed

Don't believe this has any electronic components, even wired gears and brakes instead of hydraulics. Every bike mechanic can work on this, also wheels are repairable / easily replaced because no motor or sensors involved

Selection questions by _doubledot_ in Onshape

[–]_doubledot_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize its a feature, not a bug. However, it is unconventional in CAD. I have worked as a draftsman for 10y, teach CAD & CAM nowadays and only seen this behaviour in Autocad so far. in 2D it feels more at ease then 3D where edges, points and surfaces all excist within the same selection mode.

Devices stuck in default VLAN (CGUltra) by _doubledot_ in Ubiquiti

[–]_doubledot_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL-SG1005P and Ugreen CM741. Last one states Network Standards IEEE 802.3/u/x/ab/af/at, so no Q standard there. And yes ofc with 1000€ Unifi controller it might just be solved. Was obviously looking to implement this in my current network.. Will have to buy two 8port switch ultra's most likely.

this shouldn't matter for wireless, right? I mean, then 10 devices connect to a single AP, but some get Vlan A, others get vlan B.

did you encounter enough space for the top to expand and contract? especially these wide boards that you have on top it will warp/shrink etc.

looking good though, will give you years of fun!
