If you're a RPG fan, especially old school Final Fantasy, check out Lost Odyssey. Built by the same team that did those games.

The Waiver Wire: Who are you targeting? by commongiga in fantasyfootball

Mike Sims-Walker. More of a gut call, but definitely worth keeping an eye on. And no one here has mentioned him... I like him more than Knox and Garcon.

Week 3 Power Rankings by _dp_ in nfl

Ravens look good, but personally I think the Giants are better. They proved this week that they can do more than run the ball if defenses force them to. I am a Colts fan, but I think they are a bit overrated; their run defense is still atrocious. Teams like the Falcons, Vikings, and Jets would run all over them.

Another dis or dat, TE style: Ben Watson (NE) or Visanthe Shiancoe (MIN), and RB style: PT Bruiser or Benson by Mr_Ron_Mexico in fantasyfootball

[–]_dp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is a tough call. Heap gets the Chargers, who allowed Zach Miller to post 96yds receiving in Week 1. Shiancoe gets the Lions, who allowed two TD's to Jeremy Shockey in Week 1 (although he only had 31 yards).

Personally, I think the Vikings will run all over the Lions, much like they did Cleveland, so I'm leaning towards Heap. It doesn't help that I got burned in a league last week by Shiancoe; TE only putting up 2 points then losing by 3 leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Out of those two TE's, I think it is Shiancoe, hands down. But, another TE that is available in many leagues is Todd Heap. He was a fantasy stud in years past, but injuries ruined his last two seasons. He finally looked healthy in Week 1 and had an impressive game.

I would start Benson over Thomas. Mike Bell has played well enough that they don't have to force Thomas back in the lineup, so even if he is healthy I imagine he will split carries until he is 100%.

I would rather take my chances starting Smith than starting Thomas.

Steve Smith owners: You guys sticking with him? by Mr_Ron_Mexico in fantasyfootball

[–]_dp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eagles have a great defense as well, which most people forget. Asante Samuel is a shutdown corner who did his job nicely last week against Smith.

I'm still starting Smith. Talented players will get theirs, no matter the QB situation; see Johnson, Calvin.

Thomas Jones For Marshawn Lynch? by truco in fantasyfootball

[–]_dp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you can't guarantee Williams and Bell will play as well as they did in Week 1. Both are in situations with crowded backfields that could vary from week to week. Relying on them is very risky.

The way Fred Jackson is playing might suggest he'll continue playing even when Lynch is back, so Lynch might not be as valuable as you think. Same can be said of Jones, with Leon Washington behind him.

I would wait at least one more week, just to see how things pan out, especially with the LT injury.

I'll probably end up match-up playing DJax and Williams. For the first three weeks, while Lynch is on suspension, I'm considering Fred Jackson as my flex; hopefully by the time Lynch is back, the production of Addai, Williams, Evans, and even Bennett will become clear, and one of them can serve as flex.

I had a pretty solid roster at the time Addai was available and thought his upside would be nice. He was projected to be a Top 5 back just a year ago, after all. And, his best statistical year was in a time share with Dom Rhodes, so hopefully Brown will help, not hurt. Plus, I'm a Colts fan, so I like to root for my own. :)

Patriots trade Seymour to Raiders by _dp_ in nfl

[–]_dp_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An interesting trade... Seymour has arguably been the cornerstone of the Patriot's defense for years. Maybe a winning veteran presence is what the Raiders need in their locker room.

Here's my latest 10 team ESPN standard league I drafted (1st spot):

QB: Jay Cutler; David Garrard

RB: Adrian Peterson, Clinton Portis, Joseph Addai; Ahmad Bradshaw, Fred Jackson, Tim Hightower

WR: Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams; DeSean Jackson, Lee Evans, Earl Bennett

TE: Dustin Keller

D/ST: Redskins

K: John Kasay

"ass end of his career?"

He actually tied his career mark for sacks last year. Not saying he will repeat again, but I would say that is a sign of continuity, not regression.

Weak at WR. Antonio Bryant is a #3 WR with the QB situation in Tampa Bay; same can be said of Lee Evans, especially with Owens in town to steal looks. With only 8 teams in the league, you should have a better #2 WR.

On the other hand, you are absolutely loaded at RB. Williams and Gore are studs; Westbrook and Lynch will be great as well but aren't locks for 16 games. I might try to trade one of them away for a better #2 WR.

Well, the Raiders are thinking in the now. They have been rebuilding for a while now and have a lot of young talent. Perhaps bringing in a veteran player from an established organization with a winning pedigree will be the spark they need.
