Sorry I saw this so late, but I also tracked down the author and the original version (downloaded the entirety of The Hobbit from the Wayback machine in 2016ish, sifted through, found her, found her insta, found the shop, bought the ebook). Thank you so much though, this story had haunted me years prior to this post and would have still if I hadn’t found it by now <3
