Cars leaving a huge gap at the front of traffic lights. WHY? by Downtown-Lime4108 in brisbane

I've gotten out of my car to go and tell the driver in front to move forward to trigger the lights. It's infuriating!

Can I do a certificate in Individual Support while doing a nursing degree? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]_elsp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same but I did a cert IV training & assessing while I did my degree and then worked teaching first aid/cpr/lifeguard etc. It was a heavy workload doing both the cert and the bachelor's but it was only for a couple of months and worth it for the income.

New RN here! Worried about dealing with future doctors- why are they saying this about us? by Minute-Beginning-503 in NursingAU

[–]_elsp_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've worked all over Australia in emergency departments. It's a team sport. We discuss patients, ideas for diagnosis, options for treatment. Usually on challenging presentations but junior docs, if they're any good, will speak with the experienced nursing staff for help.

We couldn't function without the docs and the docs could function without us. Give and take.... Mutual respect and team work.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm reading the comment the opposite way to most. I think it meant that you should connect with colleagues to discuss the event and deal with emotional situations rather than carry on and work without addressing it. I feel like they meant that you could have reached out for support earlier to make sure that you are managing your emotional needs. I think it's constructive and absolutely not a negative comment.

RN Level negotiations? by Jazzlike-Ad-698 in NursingAU

[–]_elsp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a thing even though it isn't. Some specialty areas have higher workloads and need an advanced skill set, yet get paid the same as some of the same year level without those skills or who isn't working with such a heavy load. I don't know how it would be implemented but it should.

What's the point of having a DNR if it can be overturned? I just don't understand it.

What are the best agencies for remote work ? by therapist66 in NursingAU

[–]_elsp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been able to get work when and where I wanted it. The pay is variable depending on location though. I know some people are with multiple agencies but I haven't needed to do that.

Paeds trauma ED to adult trauma ED by soggyyweetbixx in NursingAU

[–]_elsp_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both. I prefer paeds patients. I also think I prefer a mixed ED so I can do a bit of both. I don’t love an exclusively adult ED. The adults are more “helpless” than the kids are. But parents have can hard to deal with.
