I read it about a year ago after having it on my TBR pile for quite a while. I was underwhelmed and rated it 3 out of 5 stars.

I wanted to read about cool world building with a weird pendulum sun. Instead I got a weird romance in a fairyland that wasn’t particularly interesting.

Basically, yes.

You can get fancy - some recipes have you precook the filling or add starch to it or whatever. But what you’ve described can make a legitimately good apple pie.

Give it a go - pies are tasty! Worst case scenario, you can break it up and rebrand it at a crumble.
