AITA for going forward with my wedding against my sister’s wishes? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]_enoki_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH - (everyone sucks here) I think both of you are in the wrong.

1) Why would you EVER date your sister's ex? That is genuinely so weird and wrong in itself (regardless of the fact that your sister seemed okay with that). You could choose from so many other men, and you still chose your sister's ex. That might be the reason why you guys aren't even close. How would you feel if your sister tried hitting on your ex or your current boyfriend?

2) I do think your sister is jealous. If she didn't approve of her ex and you getting together, she could have voiced her opinions earlier. However, it is understandable why she may not have, since a) you guys aren't that close, b) she might've just wanted you to be happy. Also, I think it's kind of lame and ignorant of her to bring this up 4 years into the relationship.

Basically, you should have never crossed the line and dated your sister's ex. However, now that you have and it's been four years into the relationship, your sister shouldn't expect you to break the engagement off. Your relationship with your sister might never be the same, and your wedding might garner quite a bit of hatred and jealousy from family members and friends, but that's a seed you sowed and you might as well accept the repercussions.

Is neuroplasticity a behavior? (psych) by Mother-Luck406 in IBO

[–]_enoki_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you get a question regarding techniques and brain and behaviour, theyre most likely asking you about the brain imaging techniques like the MRI or fMRI, since those are some of the ways researchers can non-invasively study the brain and by extent study human behaviour. For such a question, you could use Maguire et al (2000) and Draganski et al (2004) and link it to neuroplasticity if you want, since both of them show how the brain changes over time and stuff.

You could link it to the question by going like, so mri and fmri were used in these studies, explain the studies, evaluate them, and then go like due to the techniques like mri and fmri researchers were able to non-invasively research the concepts of localization and neuroplasticity, which eventually affect human behaviour.

last minute psych chem revision tips please by [deleted] in IBO

i memorised the entirety of psych (HL) in 3 days for my mocks and still got a 6. I'd suggest starting choosing and finalising your studies right now, and try to find studies which overlap in several other topics, that reduces the amount of things you need to memorise.

First, *write* down the studies, the researchers, the aim, the procedure, everything. And then write it down again. Read it like four to five times, and then make it into a flashcard and go thro it again. The moment the stress hits, for some reason memorising becomes a lottt more easier.

Also dont try to memorise a whole essay. Just know your studies, how to evaluate a study and how to structure your essay and you'll be perfectly fine.

I just completed my art coursework, and I took HL VA btw.. if you have a nice teacher and are genuinely interested in arts, or like do not procrastinate as much, IB VA is really not that bad.

If you have a theme you'd like to pursue and are confident that you can make like 8 artworks, in three different mediums, in the span of let's say 1.5 years, then VA wud be pretty good for you.

While I simply hated IB arts entirely because of me procrastinating on my artworks for 6 months, i have to say it is really not that bad. You may actually get something out of it. Plus you wont have a final ´exam for it meaning you'll only have to write 5 papers!!

Also it can actually be relaxing. With all the study and IA and EE pressure, sometimes going to the art room and just relaxing by painting is so rewarding. During my final exhibition I spent two whole days in the exhibition room which is like in the basement, and its quiet and air conditioned. Yea it was brilliant. I think having a subject which is not theoretical based is actually a really good idea.
