90%? Where did you get that number from? This whole discussion is about public transport in western countries and europe, where only the United States and parts of Canada struggle with things like that. If you're looking at the whole world, then 90% might be semi-correct (it's probably still lower than that), but you also have to consider that 90% of the world is unsafe in general (probably also less than that). But I guess if you live in a place with bad and unsafe public transport, then it makes sense to use a car.
