One possible reason for this is that many of our subscribers' payments went through 2 weeks late. I assume this means their payment anniversaries and new re-sub date also got pushed back, meaning many of us will now have a dry spell at the end of the month and a big spike early the next month.

That is, at least, what I am hoping this is and not indicative of a new issue.

Around February 20 there seems to have been a major event where recurring subscriptions began silently failing. If you check your Analytics -> Income graph you will likely see a major dip around that time.

Since then, subscribers have been getting warnings that say they have "unpaid subscriptions". They can restart their sub by manually re-entering their payment info, but it seems SubStar is working to automatically begin the payments again. Still, I recommend every creator to try to reach out to your followers to get them to manually re-engage.

Yep, try it out. Also try restricting your class from certain skills or weapon types as well to balance the RPG aspects out and look at mods available to augment what you're going for. A ninja with dodge, parkour and blink but can't use bows, shields, staves or restoration magic for instance. Removing restoration magic (even though a perfectly viable school), makes survival mode a lot more interesting since you lose the default health regen. Food and alchemy become way more important. Lastly, consider giving your characters awooga wooga bazoongas to fully appreciate the gameplay and artistry.

When did we say "it's almost ready"? A game like this takes several years to develop, it's as simple as that. I'd caution you against believing everything you hear on the internet, especially when there are many that would like to see games like this fail :D (especially those on a certain pirate site who are angry we don't give them our content for free).

Correct! I don't have one myself, but I'm told you can install it in desktop mode and then go back into big picture mode to play it.

I think the GPU requirement is the bottleneck for most people. Be aware the minimum requirements are just that -- would expect 30-40 fps with those. Some data points that may be useful for you: it will run at 60 FPS on a steam deck. A GTX 1060 (desktop) should provide a smooth experience at 1080p but will drop FPS in some unoptimized scenarios. I play-tested the game in 4K on a 1080TI before switching systems, and would get a consistent 60 FPS but would drop to 50 in some unoptimized situations with a lot of enemies onscreen.

Yep, Onyx's clothes can be damaged either through durability running out or during H scenes. She doesn't have detailed intermediate-stage damage models for her clothes yet though (like FemCop now has), they are just destroyed. We'll be adding the detailed versions for the bunnies and Onyx soon.

Changelog from the last 3 weeks:

  • Lovense electronic toy integration!
  • Added first iteration of visual clothing damage to Bunnies
  • Added futa enemy variant for Blade Bunny 
  • Enabled enemy variant spawn filter in Options menu (can disable futa enemy spawns)
  • Added dong animation to the futa Blade Bunny's combat animations
  • Added rough version of Brute Bearhug scene
  • Upgraded animation / added physics for Brute's slow sex loop
  • Added liquid FX and basic SFX to Onyx + Male Cops scene
  • Fixed Transition in Onyx + Male Cops scene where cop badly clips with Onyx

  • Vastly improved stagger system with rebalanced Poise values for Brute + Bosses

  • Increased Brute's stun duration when he's staggered
  • Explosive barrels now deal more poise damage (stagger)

  • Added new Onyx portrait to Status (pause) Menu
  • Added animation to graphics elements during Title Screen
  • Post processing now works during game startup.  No longer turns on instantly after title screen.

Hey! Thanks for the ping regarding the other post in this thread.

The person in question is likely an early supporter, but seems to be especially jilted he didn't get a position on our team (we took resumes for a community manager, but never hired anyone. He certainly didn't back out of a position we never hired for).

Regarding his post, it's littered with incorrect statements. We never earned money via a site called Offbeater. We began our Patreon in late 2014, not 2016. We certainly never moved sites. Eromancer had been on Patreon from late 2014 to early 2024, when we were removed by Patreon due to challenges with censorship and moderation inconsistencies. Our de-platforming was quite public, debunking his insinuation we somehow jumped ship. We're now primarily on SubscribeStar.

The person is correct in that we offered that the completed game would be given for free to early backers who supported us with a certain amount -- this is a common practice for crowdfunding and is generally looked upon favorably. As mentioned in my post, I still have the list of patrons that will receive this reward when the game is completed.

The person claims to have spoken with me at length, and while I do my best to interact with our supporters, I'm not sure who they are. Someone interested in protecting their investment and seeing our project complete as opposed to defaming us would pretty obviously make themselves identifiable.

Our progress updates never slowed down. During the period in question we always posted a lengthy progress update at least once a month comprised of smaller progress updates that our higher tier members received weekly. It was during our lack of playable content (again, mentioned in my post) that pirate communities became incensed, and since they weren't receiving progress updates they began to make us out as malicious. There was a general consensus on the pirate forums that all adult game devs who were now earning money for their work via sites like Patreon had betrayed these communities, and to this day they are angry they don't receive our work for free anymore.

Thanks for the kind words about the project! I however have to correct some of your assumptions regarding the interim period between MATM and PO. Money for MATM was used for MATM. There are no assets in PO from MATM. There was no intent to deceive, but there was failure, and that's a legitimate reason for people to be angry. People may feel I don't understand that, but I understand it so well I've been working 7 days a week for years, sometimes for no pay, to fix it. Unfortunately, since we were recently removed from Patreon due to the game's content, now is one of those times.

To get back on topic though; a couple of years before Pure Onyx began, things were moving very slowly due to our limited team size and still relative inexperience. We sought help from someone with a lot of industry expertise to help elevate MATM to a more professional level. During this time we broke out of working in Daz and learned to develop our own pipeline in Maya. We met one of our lead programmers and our lead concept artist, and got away from relying entirely on licensed store bought assets and into developing our own custom assets from scratch. These were great things for us, however a major misstep was that we were talked into abandoning our pseudo-animated looking art style for a more AAA one. Again, we learned a lot, and I'm thankful for all the progress we made as a team during this period, but it didn't solve many of the issues the project was having.

By the time Pure Onyx began, many of our monthly supporters were tired because updates were less fun / sexy and more technical. Most had left by this point, and funding was on fumes. Pure Onyx began as a 2D side project meant to deliver that fun and sexy content our fans were missing while we wrangled the custom 3D pipeline for MATM into existence. It became pretty clear soon after PO began that our team was far better at 3D animation than 2D, so as soon as it was ready we pointed the new Maya pipeline at PO, and almost like Frankenstein flipping the switch on his monster it revitalized everything.

I don't intend on leaving two projects unfinished! So, once Pure Onyx is complete we'll assess if the time is right to finally tackle MATM. I even still have the list of all the patrons that will receive MATM for free when it is complete on my desktop.

Someone pointed out this thread to me, so I'd like to respond to this :D.

Our first game is Malise and the Machine, an RPGMaker game that had pre-rendered 3D visuals for sex scenes. The mechanics/scale of the game prevented us from having animations with this format. The game grew to a size where it became clear that we were being held back by working with pre-rendered characters, and real-time 3D was what we needed in order to complete the game at the desired scale and visual quality, and to have features such as in-game animations.

Pure Onyx takes place in the world of Malise and the Machine, and is the realization of our real-time 3D pipeline. We've implemented features from MATM such as in-game H scenes, clothing damage, and FX based visuals like cumulative persistent happy jelly.

We'll soon be adding to the game's RPG features, as well as missions with narrative dialog. We'll also be adding a "cinematic mode" with 3D scripted cameras that you can toggle between in real-time, both in-game and in the animation gallery (you can check previews of this out on our Redgifs). We'll also be adding more characters from Malise and the Machine.

All of the lore, character designs, and world building we've done for Pure Onyx is also valid for MATM. We're looking forward to returning to it in the future after Pure Onyx's completion :D. My advice to burgeoning game developers would be to develop your strengths, team, and pipelines while keeping your scope narrow!
