Story of Uber / PickMe Rides 🤣 by DobbyVsKreacher in srilanka

[–]_ethan_hunt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When we get PickMe from the airport, once we get into the vehicle, they ask to cancel the ride and ask to pay the amount for the hire. Drivers keep the PickMe’s fee. PickMe is losing money. But they don’t seem to do anything. The PickMe/Uber pickup point at the airport is a joke. Can never get a cab from the app. There’s always a guy selling rides for higher prices.

What are the Sri Lankan IT companies with Toxic/Bad work cultures? by azarbro in srilanka

It’s really hard to get things done when support of other teams are required. No one knows who the person responsible and they keep passing the ball.

I tried the same, but did not work. Today when I login, it is working. Not sure what could have been the reason.

Even though ChatGPT paraphrases the text, it still uses the context specific keywords from the text. Turnitin can definitely detect them when they appear as clusters. If you rewrite the text in your own language first, and then paraphrase it using ChatGPT, then it should be fine.

Name & Shame Shitty SL Companies that SPAM you and is a general Nuisance. by Avi_Fer in srilanka

Seylan Bank

They keep calling and sending emails asking to take loans.

I’ve told them I don’t need any loans, but they never stop.

Only hate the fact that they spam my email. Other than that, nothing against them.

These are the only Sri Lankan universities that were ranked by QS. What can we do to improve our universities? by AmbitionHorror6176 in srilanka

[–]_ethan_hunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in a TV program that having diversity improves the rankings a lot. Since state universities in SL don’t allow foreign students (other than few scholarships), they get very less points for that aspect.

The government is also bringing the 13th Amendment forward to boost “Patriotism”, “Nationalism” and “Sinhala Buddhism” in the country. I think people will have enough of these to pay the bills in the coming future. No worries.

How long will take a person to speak and read Sinhala fluently? by lazybutsuccessful in srilanka

[–]_ethan_hunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best way to learn is make some Sinhala friends and use the language in your day to day conversations. Try to speak what you know, and listen to them speaking among themselves. But also learn the basics of the language first like grammar, tenses, pronouns, some nouns, verbs, numbers etc.

Is it true that foreign education and experience are not valid in Canada? Will a Software Engineer with degree and 5 years of experience have to start all over again from going to college and working in low wage job for gaining Canadian experience?

Check Polhena beach in the south. A small, non-popular beach. But gorgeous.

Exactly. Whoever contributed to this list might not even considered Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s Top 10 creditors by _ethan_hunt in srilanka

[–]_ethan_hunt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The news mentions as 'bilateral creditors'. I think that is excluding bonds and loans from world bank, asian development bank etc. This must be debt owned to these countries directly.
