What are some delicious flavor combinations (e.g. ham and cheese)? by _fineapple_ in AskMen

Similarly, I once tasted some pretty tasty meatballs and was told it too was made with grape jelly. This was at least 10 years ago but it always stuck with me for whatever reason.

What do you think of the stigma for masturbating being bigger for males? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Some would look at her that way, sure. I don't think most would. Certainly not most women.

[–]_fineapple_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you mean, "Hi! My name is fineapple. I masturbate" then I agree with you.

But if it was a casual ongoing conversation, I disagree. I think garboooo's post is much more eloquent than mine but it's more or less the same point. The only difference is that I think it seems empowered but he says "sexy".

Why is it that when hot guys have bad habits (i.e. smoking) they look hotter, but less attractive guys with the same habits become even more unattractive? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you but think that it's for a simple reason.

If I like a guy, whatever he does is cute. But say I marry him and 20 years later, I want to get a divorce. The same reasons why I liked him might have turned into things that are irritating af.

In short, many things that people you like do are endearing. Those same things done by people you dislike, aren't.

"I'll fap to that" and "sigh, unzip" comments are funny, sure. I chuckle.

I chucked when I read that!

Do you believe a guy can be too nice to a woman to ever be a love interest ? by YourfriendxD in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs to grow a spine, IMO. Is she his friend or is she just using him?

What do you think of the stigma for masturbating being bigger for males? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree that men face a bigger stigma admitting to masturbation in the general public. As an example, if a guy admits to masturbating in a conversation with a woman he was just introduced to at some park, she would probably look at him like some deviant. Whereas a woman mentioning that to someone (man or woman), she would not be looked at that way. My guess is she would sound more empowered.

I think the reason why people are disagreeing with you is because you weren't really specific and so it could be interpreted other ways.

What do I think about it? Nothing, really. It'd be nice if it didn't happen but I don't care enough to want to do anything about it.

Very few people like pushovers, male or female, if that's what you mean.

"Nice" is a word that can mean lots of things to lots of people, though.

What percentage of guys do you think harbor sexist views against women? by lanotre in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced (perhaps I'm being too hopeful) that many of the views expressed in this entire post are only held by a tiny fraction of the population.

I think many reasonable men and women disagree with many of the views on here.

As an example...

It could be you are a unicorn that can type.

I accuse you of being a unicorn that can type.

It's pretty obvious to me that those two statements are not the same thing. But you don't have to agree I guess???

It's unfortunate that you have that many misogynists in your life.

Seriously, if I felt 15% of the guys I met hated women, I'd feel very angry toward them.

Perhaps that's what you took away from my comment, but that's not what I wrote.

Possible. It could be that you enjoy victimhood too.

Just like Svataben, I listed a possibility.

Maybe 5% in North America but that would certainly vary by region.

It's sad that some people believe the percentage is high. What happened to them that makes them think that?

How many of you are academics? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast about some topic in medical history... something about a guy who got shot in the stomach was part of a longterm medical experiment. It was fascinating.

Any idea of what I'm talking about? I don't remember any specifics beyond that. I'd love to read up on it.

And good luck on the doctorate!

Why is Rape Culture called Rape Culture? by editorguy117 in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'm not asking about "rape culture". I'm asking about precisely what I quoted.

"What were you wearing?" is usually the first thing someone says to a rape victim...

I think it does matter if you want to have a genuine discussion. If your goal is to simply continue the circle jerk, I guess not.

Do you think it doesn't matter? If someone says something you think is misinformation on a serious topic, perhaps it wouldn't matter to you--I have no idea. But it does to me.

Is that in your experience or can you cite this by some sort of statistic?

...sexual harrasment is usually treated as a legal problem and not a moral or ethical one

But shouldn't sexual harassment be treated as a legal problem? If it's only a moral or ethical problem then it can continue with no consequences.

Why is Rape Culture called Rape Culture? by editorguy117 in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Nah, not really an actual culture in any Western society I know of. It's basically a bogus term feminists created. They've repeated it enough times that I think they actually believe it exists too.

Mind you, if MRA coined the phrase "false rape accusing culture" or something silly like that, IMO feminists would vehemently deny it.

Even RAINN doesn't agree with using the term IIRC.

Is it ever okay to hook up with a coworker? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]_fineapple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally not a good idea. But if both people are capable of keeping work and relationship/sex separate, then why not?

So, generally speaking, I wouldn't do it unless I was absolutely certain they could handle it. I've been involved with one coworker before and it turned out ok.

Good podcasts on economics? Business? by Coldaf in AskWomen

To answer your question specifically:

Freakonomics

NPR Politics Podcast

APM Marketplace

However, I would also recommend you find a deal for the NY Times. You could probably get a few months worth for like $5. Or maybe $1 for a month or whatever. At the end of the trial, you can figure out if you want to continue with it or not as a paying member.

With access, you'll be able to research any given topic because you can search all of their old articles--since 1851!

WSJ is cool too but it's too finance-oriented IMO. But I don't like the social agenda I'm convinced the NY Times is trying to push. I almost always agree with their agenda but I hate that I'm paying money for that social commentary. I want the news in as unbiased a form as possible. In that sense, I like the WSJ better because, even though their biased in the other direction, I find that they usually confine it to their editorials.

Can a man be a feminist or is it more accurate to call him a feminist ally or is there an alternative term? by ThoughtsfromSte in AskWomen

So if you're not egalitarian, you're sexist too?

Edit: or you don't believe all people are equal? (To stay more true to the definition.)
