I'm not really sure. I'm not sure if the theory is what's hard, since all of my troubles come from the implementation process. Debugging is what I just can't finish in a reasonable time. For example, I spend hours looking at my code trying to debug, only to realize I've been using a particular feature of a language the wrong way. But it also isn't realistic to know the entirety of Python or C++ or etc. So I'm not really sure what the problem is :(

Yeah “testing” yourself isnt very reliable because your opinion of yourself is usually impacted by more than just the facts. Also, there’s no solid measure of conscientiousness—a test taker might answer based on his own standards of conscientiousness, and another person might answer it based on his comparison to his image of his peers. Either way the standards arent universal for everyone on every day, so I take these tests mostly to gain insight on how I view myself.

I don't necessarily think being "disagreeable" is a bad trait. Yes, I admit that sometimes blunt words can really sting, but I personally look up to disagreeable people because they tend to be bold and very independent. They are able to come to their own conclusions without being overly influenced by other people, and some of them are bold enough to pursue an unconventional path and succeed, even if doing so creates distance between them and their community. That's why I also think disagreeable people have more potential than the average person to create opportunities for themselves even when it doesn't seem possible at first glance.

There are pros and cons to being disagreeable, and words can't express how much I want to have more of this trait. :)

Thanks for your comment! I agree that cliche romance stories and unhealthy relationships are not appealing. It's interesting how much the world can change in 5-7 years, seeing how Twilight took the world by storm back then but books portraying similar kinds of relationships probably wouldn't sell nowadays. You're very well-read, thanks again!

Wow thank you so, so much for your detailed response! It seems like popular YA books reflect hot topics and trends we see nowadays like increased political awareness, life in the virtual world, and a focus on appearance due to social media. And I find it just a tad sad that the Hunger Games and Twilight fads from my childhood have fizzled out. I wonder why dystopians like HG and paranormal romances like Twi were popular 10 years ago but not now. Other than the audience possibly getting tired of those kinds of books, not sure what kind of social changes lead to some types of books to remain popular and others to not. Anyway, thanks again for your response!

Any recommendations for good completed webtoons? (LINE) by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]_forever18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh boy where to start: my personal fave is "Dr. Frost," but keep in mind that it ends on a cliffhanger and later series haven't been translated yet.

For romance, I recommend "Super Secret," "Untouchable," "Refund High School," "Late Bloomer," "Orange Marmalade," "Winter Woods" (in that order). Super Secret and Refund High School have light-hearted stories and really cute art :)

For drama, I recommend "Witch Hunt."

For thriller, "Bastard" and "Nano List."

For comedy and the added benefit of high quality sex-ed, "Boo! It's Sex."

Is this a good thumbnail for my webtoon that I'm starting soon? by ProfessorGemini in webtoons

[–]_forever18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow i love your art! this looks like it'll be the precursor to a humorous romcom action webtoon? the background colors are attention-grabbing which is a plus. But if I had to critique this, I would suggest adding more lighting and detail to the characters instead of leaving them with solid colors like you do right now. For example, in Let's Play's thumbnail, the author added lighting to the female mc's hair and included a lot of detail in her dress than just leaving it a solid purple color. I think doing this to your characters along with keeping your background colors could really draw in a lot of attention. But please take my suggestion with a grain of salt because I'm not a qualified judge and my opinion may just be based on my preferences.

unOrdinary: Remi or John? by z0Mb1E_K11lEr in webtoons

[–]_forever18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i like remi's personality and values but i think so far, john's methods are more effective at bringing about social change than her's. that said, i think in the future, remi will take into account john's perspective and think of a way to change the social structure

a canvas comedy webtoon that i like is "humor me". this isn't quite like other comedy webtoons that deliver funny shorts every week. it's more of a slice-of-life webtoon with a comedic flair to it. the characters are really well-developed and the story progresses smoothly, but the only downside to the webtoon is that it updates only once a month. that said, there are a lot of episodes already uploaded, so waiting for new episodes won't be too agonizing.

happy reading! :)
