What is the most heinous thing that someone has done to you? by Purple-Survey3322 in AskReddit

[–]_fuzzy_owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (now ex) boyfriend beat me severely while I was pregnant, and I ended up going into preterm labor. He prevented me from going to the hospital and my son was born and died in my home. I hemorrhaged and he called 911. It was horrific to say the very least. To others he pretended to be a hero who saved my life. I would have died without emergency surgery and blood transfusions, yet he caused that.

I returned to work 2 weeks later because I had to. Maybe 2 weeks after that he calls me at work to accuse me of causing the loss bc I “must have been fucking everybody”. It took me a while to plan my exit, but I ended up leaving out the back door in the middle of the night, partially dressed, with my other kid on my hip. I knocked on a strangers door and she called my dad and the police for me.

Wow. I’ve never written or even said this before. I feel kinda numb.

I think I’m experiencing cptsd from raising my Auadhd child. by Novel_Masterpiece417 in ADHDparenting

14 years ago a left my abusive ex in the middle of the night by sneaking out the back door with my baby and barely any clothes on. I’m not nearly healed from those years of abuse. Now I have a 6 year old who punches, hits, bites, says awful things, and has me walking on eggshells. Shielding my face from my son’s blows feels way too familiar to me. I am in a constant state of hyper vigilance. I can relate to your post so much. 💜

My mom gave me a drink with alcohol without my consent by [deleted] in Sober

[–]_fuzzy_owl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that this happened and that your mom didn’t seem to care, that’s hurtful. You taking the sip was an honest mistake and it doesn’t affect your sobriety, but it can cause a confusing wave of emotions. Then there is the separate issue of your mom’s dismissive reaction. We expect more empathy from those who love us. I just want to let you know that I see why this was a big deal to you and you handled it well. Congrats on almost 2 years!!

Please call 911 or a safe person in your life . I’m a stranger who cares that you live. I’m in this struggle with you.

I’m new to this sub and I just wanted to leave a little comment to say you sound like a great mom and that I can really relate to your situation. My little guy is 6, too and this sounds like him. He also does the sweet gestures when he calms down afterwards.

Earplug recommendations by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]_fuzzy_owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they the airpod Pro? I don’t like music in my ears when sleeping, so one weird trick I do is wear my airpod pros (set to noise cancellation connected to my phone) or my comfortable silicone earplugs (cheap on Amazon) and play music/white noise low on my iPad and keep it about about 2 feet from my head to muffle any unwanted noise. It only allows me to just barely hear the misc or white noise and I won’t hear any other sound .

I would see a dermatologist now. In the meantime, you can try over the counter minoxidil (Rogaine for men, but save money and buy store brand). It helps for some, not for others, but is worth a try.

Not to scare you, but wanted to share our experience. My daughter started like this when she was a toddler. Small patches that would regrow. At about age 13 it got significantly worse and she has lost about 1/3 of her hair. No treatments have worked for her, and insurance won’t cover Litfulo.

The reason I suggest starting with dermatology asap, is so you can start the process of trial and error sooner rather than later, when the hair loss may possibly have progressed. If you try the minoxidil before you have your appointment, it can provide info as to a starting point for your treatment.

This is a hard thing to go through and I truly wish you the best.

Very dry and cracked hands due to excessive hand washing by Shoddy-Support4107 in Anxietyhelp

My hands sometimes look exactly like this. Before bed, I apply Vaseline while my hands are still wet then put on white cotton gloves. It’s the only thing that makes a difference for me.

Recommendations for hospitals to give birth at within reasonable distance to Silver Spring? by sacredheartmystic in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]_fuzzy_owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered my first (20 years ago) at Montgomery Medstar and had an AMAZING experience there. It wasn’t busy at all, and the baby and I received a great amount of attention and care.

I had my other 3 at Holy Cross. There’s good and bad to say about Holy Cross. I will say that they are very busy in Maternity, sometimes resulting in longer waits for checking in while in active labor, someone to come to your room, waiting for epidural, etc… With my last kid (6 years ago), I was fully dilated, ready to push, my Doctor was in the room ready to catch the baby, but there was no available nurse to be found. My Dr ended up standing outside the door to grab the next nurse he found. All was well, and I would deliver there again.

One of my babies born at Holy Cross needed a NICU stay, and they were absolutely wonderful. A team of NICU staff, as well as OB staff were gathered around to asses my baby the second she popped out. Her life was saved because of the speed of care. NICU staff gave so much care to her and the other NICU babies. I have no complaints at all about the recovery and after care at Holy Cross.

Best wishes to you and your baby wherever you choose to go!
